The Unspoken Rules of Being a Man

The world we find ourselves in today demands so much from men. Little thing, you will be hearing statements like, "Be a man; you are not man enough; don't talk like women; hold back certain things like a man you are; big boys don't cry," and the likes.

This has made a lot of men harbor things within themselves, and for some of them, it hasn't done them good in any way.

However, men are encouraged these days to speak up about their challenges instead, cry if the need be, but then, the question is, is this advisable? Is it right that men show it when they are weak and exhausted about life responsibilities as a man? Or they are simply created and expected to stay strong throughout their ups and downs in life.

The unspoken rules of masculinity.png

I will start by saying that men are humans too regardless of their gender. However, men have to be as strong as possible; it's better if they don't show so much weakness. As humans they are also; there could be a day the strength to be strong reduces or fades away, and they would need a shoulder to lean on. Remember, your tools and machines wear out at a point after much use, so it can be likened to men. These situations are bound to happen.

This might be the view of some women like me. We ALWAYS say this, but the minute a man starts acting weak, most women will secretly dislike him for that. This is the secret, and women will never say it out loud or admit it, but deep down, we know the truth deep inside without much argument. It's just hard to accept the reality, but when it unfolds, we act on it negatively, showing our dissatisfaction about the whole situation.

No doubt, it's obvious that the society we are in is one that expects that men should always be men even in a very difficult situation. They should man up regardless of whatever becomes their reality; they should stand up, endure, man up, provide, and all that. But hold on, men get tired too; they get fed up and exhausted. But it's better they don't show it that much, I think .

There are very few situations where a man is allowed to act weak, like getting drunk with his friends or at a funeral; yea, some situations should naturally make them act weak, but just in a few situations. They are the head; they are men, and it makes more sense that the head stay strong so other parts wouldn't collapse, you know. lol

Women are known as weaker vessels for a reason; we are made from men. That's why we talk out everything. We are too open and show our weaknesses more than men, so when men start acting like the weaker vessels, it becomes a concern. I can't imagine seeing my husband act weak in certain situations; he should stay strong and encourage me to be strong. If he does otherwise, I might be afraid of the unknown, lol. Let me reserve narrating stories of what happened in the past in my home, hehehe… but that's to say that we look up to men to stay strong regardless.

Overall, I wouldn't say that men should be restricted to expressing their minds and life challenges; they should always do so. Just that it shouldn't be to the extent where they should be seen as weak. It's just how it is; yeah, it's sad in a way, but life is life.

Reading this content reminds me of what happened a few days ago in our street, a man locked himself inside his car and committed suicide, from the note he left behind it was obvious that his expectations were much higher because he's a man and he couldn't take it again, no one wants to hear him out sadly his family lost him

Its high time people see men as humans and give them a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on.

Very sad one, because no one got to see that blood runs through this man's body and help him.

That's just it, men have emotions and can be emotional too, it's just that the way they show it is quite different, they don't want to be vulnerable in the face of others.

Yes ooo men should stand in the gap as men but in some cases you see women doing the thing man is supposed to and such men claim they don't want trouble please men in the house stand to your feet and stand in the gap especially for your family, because when a man is weak people are not afraid to attack him and his household. Thank God for my hubby you don't mess up 🤣😂 but you're not asked to kill anybody ooo men🏃🏃

I think it's not so easy to cry because if you think about me, I don't think it's a wise idea because later I will be taunt for it and I am very much sure about it. If I become weaker, I won't reveal it, as if it is revealed, there is a fair chance that people will target my weak point and attack later.
