A Stroll In The Gardens

It is always very pleasant to stroll in the Gardens by the Bay. The place is big and you can always pick a different corner to stroll for each visit. Work in the number one tourist attraction in Singapore is always in progress. Each visit, you will find that there are new additions, or you will see something you hadn’t paid attention to before in previous visits.

Here are some photos from my recent visit.

A shot of the Singapore Flyer from the Gardens by the Bay. I am surprised it turned out quite well because that was quite a distance away. And it was only a phone camera.

This sculpture is called AIRMESH. It’s stainless-steel 3D Printed Space. From the description on the signboard, it sounds like a piece of breakthrough engineering to me.

It was explained on the signboard that:- “AIRMESH is the first in the world fully functional space frame structure suing stainless-steel 3D printed components. Space frames are structures that be be used to span large areas with few interior supports. AIRMESH is inspired by a fusion of a traditional lantern and the intricacy of a neural network.

“The extremely slender stainless-steel bars are connected to the 3D printed metal nodes, forming a seamless complex system of tetrahedrons. This gives extraordinary strength to the structural despite the delicate size of it individual members design to withstand 15 times their weight.

“The ethereal structure is wrapped by two layers of breathable mesh which subtly materializes a colourful light at night and creates nuanced shades during he day. It is a free space to contemplate nature away from the hustle and bustle of the city.”

An interesting plant. I don’t know what it is though.

This sculpture didn't have a signboard to explain what it is.

Love the flowers and plants of course but the sculptures are so cool especially the mother and child one it is quite powerful

For me, it's one of those sculpture that I don't understand, but I somehow like it. I guess cool is as good a word to describe it. 😊👍
