My Photo for National Geographic Photo Contest

Hello Hivians,

Yours truly decided to compete in the National Geographic photography contest. Yes, I took a leap and jumped amidst the sea of awesome and incredible photos to compete with my bird - the Greenfinch.

National Geographic, Bulgaria organizes the contest in four categories:

  • Animals
  • People
  • Scapes
  • In the dark

The contestants had two mohths, June and July to submit their photos, one for each category. The judges, four professional photographers will choose a winner and runner up in each category. One of the winners will get the grand prize and this year this is a photo trip in Istanbul in a company of a National Geographic photographer. How awesome is that!

The public will choose a winner too among all who compete and the site is open for votes. If you like my photo and you wish to support me, you are welcome to cast a vote. I will be more than grateful.
Here is the link - https://photocontestbg.natgeotv.com/photo/1801?page=138. The site is in Bulgarian and you can use the options for translation your browser supports.

Then it should look like this:

The competion is strong and there are many talented photographers, whose photos deserve to be among the winners. I could not dare to compete in the other three categories yet. I can try next year, there is plenty of time to practice and learn how ro become better. As for the category Animals, I have to admit that not only birds are presented beautifully. The category is pretty large, one can see images of the tiniest bug to the elephant. It is hard to determine which animal will win the hearts of the judges.

The other three categories also provide a wide range of photos and I can tell you the judges will have hard time to choose the winners. I browsed all of them and I have some favourites. If they win, I would be very happy.

National Geographic magazine with its marvelous photos is top notch and for me taking part in their contest, is aleady a step forward. I will not become professional photographer. My aim is to become better photographer. This competition will show me how high the level is and what to improve.

This is the first time to enter the Nat Geo contest. Last year I saw their advertising, but I wasn't confident enough. Somehow, I wasn't sure I would find a photo that would be worth to submit.

This year all I needed was a little push that came from a friend who told me to stop hesitating. It took me two hours to choose the photo and finally I decided the little Greenfinch just taking off will be my entry photo.

The public can vote till August 31st and in September the winners will be known. Here comes the tricky point - who will be the public's winner? We are allowed to spread the word, share in social media and the ones with many followers have better chance to receive the most of the votes. But let's see, shall we?

Wish me luck! 🙂
