On the island that's home to the incredible Wat Niwet Thammaprawa there stands a typical cute, instagrammable coffee shop that sells the most delicious selection of cakes, coffee and smoothies.

Sat at the Southern end of the island and surrounded by a small park, Rak Bang Pa In Cafe was a cool oasis from the heat of the afternoon sun and they sold amazing cake!

It couldn't have been a more perfect location, apart from the fact it had to be reached by a little cable car but the views and the slight breeze from the river made for an afternoon to relax and let the weeks hustle and bustle flow away with the currents of the Chao Praya.

We started with smoothies. Both the Mango and mixed berry smoothie were sublime, bursting with taste unlike most places here that serve their smoothies, overly diluted by the ice and full of sugar. Here, the sweetness was minimal and the natural tartness of the berries refreshed the taste buds.

I went for the Chocolate Fudge cake whilst the wife started on the blueberry cheesecake. Both were perfect! I later had a cappuchino and the Apple Crumble, sadly without custard but went well with the coffee.

Whilst I went to wander around the temple, the wife and the friends accompanying us sat working their way through the menu as we waited for the sunset to go and have a final round of refreshments sat in the comfy bean bags outside and enjoy the coolness as the sun went down. The problem was the cafe closed at 6pm, along with the cable car across the river to the car park and so it wasn't the beautiful and dramatic end to the day we'd hoped for.

Nevertheless, well worth a visit. The prices were quite reasonable, the food and drinks excellent and combined with the walk around the temple, made an absolutely lovely day out.

Lol, not heard that phrase for years!
Popularity of any food or beverage joint is simply based on how good the pictures will look!

It's a whole new world!

It totally is. If it looks good on Instagram that's all sooner people care about. Right enough of the good and drink is good bonus!
