A Trip From Being Slim To Gaining Weight

I wouldn't have believed that I would become as chubby as I am now if I had been told some years ago. I was so skinny that my friends and classmates called me names. Sometimes, I feel bad. I wanted to be like some of my friends that looked stark and well-fed. It wasn't like I don't eat well. I could even say I eat better than most of them but I wasn't just growing as they were.

I didn't notice the change until someone called me to it. I had started working and living alone. So, I ate whatever I liked. I could easily go back memory lane to pick some of the things I did that made me gain weight.

Time and Age

This factor is effectual in my journey to gaining weight. I think there is time for our body to experience growth according to our genes or through heredity. In my case, I knew I would be big but it came in my late twenties. The hormone that is responsible for weight gain secreted and I started to grow big on account of anything I ate.
However, in some cases, food may not be a factor to weight gain. That is not to mean that food does not affect weight gain.

Beer

Seriously, intake of beer could make one begin to grow very big. This could be because beer has a lot of fat in the ingredients used in preparing it.

Water

Taking a lot of water may not be an exact reason why I started growing or gaining weight but it sure added to the changes I notice in my body. Even today, I still drink a lot of water.

Junks and native food

I cherished eating native food. And most of these native foods can make you grow very big. One of suck food is nkwobi. It is made with goat head and foot or with cow tail, head and foot. The processing of this delicacy comes with raw palm oil and potash nice with ground crayfish with fresh pepper and onion. It is served in special occasions like weddings, house warming but can be gotten in public pubs too. I bet you won't resist it after a first taste.

As soon as I tasted Nkwobi the first time, I kept coming back for more, often and on.

There was also fish pepper soup with potatoes or yam or unripe plantain.

These were some of the things I engaged in to gain weight. Sooner than later, I started to listen to health talks about cholesterol and how it could be dangerous to human health. This made me stop eating junk and driving beer.

I noticed that stopping all those things did not result in weight loss for me. I believe it was just time and age that was on my side to help me gain weight.

As much as what we eat helps us to add weight, rest of mind is also a major factor.
I will like to try the nkwobi very soon.

hehehe I think many of us find ourselves in the same boat as we age, and our metabolisms slow down. Sugar is the worst of the lot. And that includes refined carbs. It's super difficult to stick to a high protein diet if you're on a budget though. Also, pasta and potatoes are so awesome! And BREAD? I can't cut that out!!
