Pentecost- a family weekend
It was Pentecost weekend. For us that means family weekend time. My family, my sister-in-law and her family and my mother-in-law – all 11 of us meet. We stay at a different location every year. We do games or activities together and just be together.
We went for walks - visited nearby villages/towns etc. to enjoy the surroundings. We went walking by the dyke and looked at the grazing sheep. We had tapas and drinks by the sea. It was too cold for swimming but not for some brave souls.
I cooked risotto on Saturday with one of my nieces. Cooking is for Friday and Saturday - Sunday is for dining out and Monday is brunch only as we return and dine at home.
After dinner – it’s mahjong time. My mother-in-law is the expert - she teams up with one of the younger kids.
Whilst staring at the sunset one evening – the youngest asked how long we’ve done family weekends. We started before having children. She smiled and said nothing. The glow of the fading sunset reflected our happy thoughts.
We always have a great time together – no drama thus far - despite the variety of personalities. We look forward to these weekends although we see each other during the year. This quality time away is our special time together. It is worth it as we form strong bonds and create long lasting memories.

I had to look up what Pentecost was but I see its the WhitSunday weekend. Great that you organise this with you family each year.
Yes it is WhitSunday and here we get Monday off as well. Yes it is a nice annual tradition.
Wow! Such a tradition. You started before having children and you still continued. That's really great. You know you can make another post about this weekend in the weekend community and get great votes and also the pictures can be posted in liketu community with the same story told in another way.

Many thanks @zyzymena I did not have much time so I tried this freewrite but yes this might have been a better post for the Weekend communty. We did other things so I will tell the story and write about that part of the weekend. Thanks for all the tips also about Liketu.

I didnt expect after the beach to have a round of mahjong.
It was a relaxing way to end the day.
