[ESP/ENG] El previo a la salida. De España a Bangkok // Pre-departure. From Spain to Bangkok

ENGLISH VERSION

Last shower in European bathroom with the heater on. Last time I blow dry my hair in a couple of months. Last breakfast of Cola-cao with cookies. Last day of wearing warm clothes, jacket and scarf, at least until the return. Last touch up of the backpack with the four last minute things.
Everything is ready. Tonight begins our adventure to Southeast Asia. The first time I travel to a place so far away and different, and that makes me nervous, but very much looking forward to it.
My companion until we get there is one of my cousins with whom I get along great. She is also a first-timer in crossing such long distances.

The first thing is the bus Bilbao - Barcelona. Once in Barcelona we take the train to the airport. And at mid-morning our first international plane takes off for 6 hours to Doha, Qatar, United Arab Emirates. It is a place I had never thought of going to before. It's a strange feeling to think that, even if it's at the airport, I'm going to be there. For two hours, which is how long the layover lasts.

photo_030.jpg

From there we left for our final destination, Thailand, where we arrived at 07:00 am local time.
Once there, we met up again with two friends who left earlier and already have a good Asian experience behind them. Meeting point, Bangkok. As if it were that simple, we'll see once we're there.
All this is what we have planned and this is how it should go, without any setback. Although we know that this is impossible, as what is planned rarely goes as expected.
With this I end this brief introduction to a trip of almost two months in these exotic places. I promise to keep telling you about it.
I can't wait for things to happen!

Welcome to the ASEAN Hive Community and also SE Asia. Funny, I just returned and reunited with my Cambodian family 5 days ago. We were stranded abroad in Suriname nearly 3 years during this pandemic because of COVID and visa-related problems. Before being stranded abroad together with my Cambodian wife and kids, I lived in Cambodia for 10 years, and have traveled a wee bit in Thailand.

My wife @sreypov was born in a refugee camp in Thailand in the 1980s, she can speak and read Thai. Enjoy your time there, the food just about anywhere in Thailand is absolutely delicious. We'd be happy to host you if you happen to visit Cambodia, but I think the land border is still closed with Thailand for now, you'd have to fly.

Wow, how interesting! Thank you so much for reading and commenting.
I have to say that I made this trip several years ago, but now I have been lucky enough to recover the texts and be able to publish them in this community.
I have to confess that I loved Cambodia for its flora and fauna and its welcoming people. A pleasure to have read you. Keep in touch. Regards
