Macro abstract colorful water drops
Macro water drops can be a very fun and unique way to capture interesting images without leaving your house. All you need is a sink, a flash and in this case some transparent covered folders.

To get the different colors I was using off camera flash, a Nikon SB600 Speedlight and some transparent colored folders that I would place in front of the flash as it fired to give me different types of colors for the lighting.

The work much like a flash gel would, by being in front of the light they will change the look to any color you have at your disposal. The flash is also key to helping catch the action. By using a flash you are able to freeze the motion of the water and also compensate for any lack of light you might have form shooting indoors.

For editing I made some adjustments in Lightroom and used the Nik software plugins to help me create a border for each image.
