People seem to be more cautious if something happens to someone they know rather than people they don't know, and maybe it's a general phinomenom. They think the cases of the people they don't know is a fairytale until it happens to someone they know.

Yeah. It becomes a lot more realistic to them when they see it happening to someone close.
