Let's rock this contest!!

  1. Make a comment and add a number in order of the comment's appearance.
  2. Wait for at least two valid comments before making a second comment.

There will be five winners:

comment #11 wins -> 10 POB delegation
comment #21 wins -> 20 POB delegation
comment #31 wins -> 30 POB delegation
comment #41 wins -> 40 POB delegation
comment #51 wins -> 50 POB delegation
The game ends at comment #51
delegations are good for one year

What is a valid comment?

  • A valid comment is a comment added to the main post. Comments on comments are welcome, but are not counted as valid or given a number.
  • A valid comment has some number included in the body of the comment. Even if that number is not the correct number.
  • A valid comment is not an automated or notorious spam comment.
  • A second comment is not valid unless two valid comments from other users come first.
  • A comment from one user operating alternating accounts is not valid.

How to check numbers:

  • Make sure you count only the valid comments on the main post. Write a number on your comment.

  • Wait for at least two more valid comments to pass and then you can make another comment on the main post.

  • Do your best to number your comment. I will not tell you if your number is right or wrong until the contest is over. Some people might miscount. That doesn't make their comment invalid. It's up to you to do your best.

  • I will check the numbers when the contest gets to #51. Then you will find your prizes. Some will win monster giphys to help them with their math. Others will win POB delegations.

Let's spice this game up and add some intrigue.

For instance, when a comment is left without a #, does it count if ... the number is added later, via an edit?

If so, this is comment #25 perhaps?

If not, then this comment doesn't count.

But what if one of the previous comments without a # gets edited just before the contest ends? Does that shift the winning comment by one?

Could take some real sleuthing 🔎 👁 deep into the timestamps of all the comments and their edits to figure this one out ... 👀 💼

It's a philosophical question:

When does a comment become a comment?

Surely it is a comment when it is conceived in the mind, but then no one can record that time table accurately.
The best we have to go with is the written comment and when it was published through the blockchain.
Since I am checking the comment at #51 then I will double check the time each comment was completed regardless of when that comment was conceived. That means any edits should be considered entered at the time of the most recent edit.

I made a little amendment that will work even though there is still a tiny loophole. I will check the comments at one time when I see 51 valid comments. I will record the time the comments are checked.

It's the one rule I didn't specify.

I really didn't specify. I had not foreseen this at the entry of the rules so I am just waiting to respond until #51. This keeps people on their toes and always uncertain.

I believe this is Comment #27! It seems 26 went missing but it was merely misidentified? Rules state a comment counts if it has a number in it... even if the number turns out to be inaccurate it should still be valid. There were more than 2 comments since my last comment so we are golden!

If it's the former, then once again, I can game the game by making an early comment that is valid, then invalidating it at the just the right time, so as to adjust all the successive comments by 1.

I assume you meant the latter -- i.e. edits don't count.

I am having a hard time to see the difference. I am not counting any edited comments even if that does screw up the count. When I count everything is paused. It is too late to make an edit then. SO although it may be possible to bend that rule. I think it is difficult. You can play with it more next time. You did a great job messing up the count. I thought it was funny. I made a mistake I won't make next time. I gave the numbers out when I saw 51. There weren't 51 comments yet. Next time I will not publish the answers until I see all the winners. I have to record it on paper first before numbering them on the block chain.

It would be hard to game this particular rule to win #51, but pretty easy to scheme to win #41.

I just have to be #42 and have posted at least one comment prior to #41, then make sure that I edit one of my prior comments just before the game is finalized (to invalidate it, moving all the successive counts up by one). That moves my #42 comment into the #41 slot.
