Dark emotions

Untitled design-195.jpg
Dark emotions consumed me all day, and I wanted to escape my mind. It didn't help that strong winds kept banging my narrowboat, which activated my vertigo.

Still, there are a few feel-good things that I do when I'm in distress, such as listening to my favourite playlist to lift my mood, yoga, and qigong. However, with my ringing ear and an unbalanced feeling, neither yoga nor qigong sounded like the ideal remedy. Also, my level of annoyance was so high that my favourite music added chaos, despite playing it at low volume.
Thoughts of ringing a friend for conversation crossed my mind, but there was no space in my brain; instead, I needed to sit and breathe with my feelings and slow down my mind.

Stillness and breathing are two of my favourite me-time activities—there is so much power in both. Sitting cross-legged is my preferred position when doing so, but today, I needed to lie down. Somehow, I found comfort lying on my stomach, and I took deep breaths and observed my belly expand and deflate on the bed while listening to my breath.

A few minutes of controlled breathing were so effective. My mood lightened, the spinning feeling in my head reduced, and I was enjoying my music again.

My animal instinct made me go for a walk.

PSX_20240406_235909.jpg

Even though the emotions washed over me, I pinpointed the cause of cabin fever—I just needed to go outdoors for a while. Being out in the open is a fantastic way for me to find my zen.

This small cat came running towards me, and it was great to stop and pet it for a while. Animals do have a calming effect on me, and the cat seemed to like my energy, which made me smile.

Seeing the rainbow was a bonus. It made me think deeper about the spectrum of negative emotions, which, although not grave, brought a dark cloud over me.

rainbow.jpg

Music, a long walk, and petting the cat enabled me to have a better perspective on what was going on and influenced my thoughts. Thoughts about my short- and long-term goals merging and coming to fruition were a real enlightenment, as was the reality that there are things that I need to structure and fine-tune in my life.

It's so important to take time out for ourselves, and these feelings of overwhelm and stress came from a disruption in doing all of the activities above, which are normally a part of my daily me-time. However, that's because I've been feeling a bit under the weather, but I'm on the mend, and with perseverance, I'll get the spring back in my step soon.

What about you peeps? Do you try to enjoy a slow and easy Sunday and fit some me-time activities?

It's good that you are able to recognize when you're feeling that way and have strategies that you find helpful. That must be all of the mindfulness activities that you do.

I was doing a bit of meditation again after a long hiatus but that only lasted a few days. I would like to keep up with it. I've been exercising again as well. So that has been helpful for me

Yeah, I know that I might not be doing all the activities that my heart desires atm, but I'm pleased with what I'm able to identify and rectify.

Congrats to you for getting back into meditation and exercise. Are you sure you don't want to live with your in-laws permanently? It seems to be having the most positive effect on you.

I pretty much stopped watching TV here so I'm also reading a little more. Still spending a lot of time on my phone though 😆

My my! I've never been big on watching TV. The Ads drive me crazy and I always feel like they are training to brainwash the public. I might watch a good documentary, occasionally. Or if there's a live event (sport or entertainment), then yes. Other than that, I don't need a TV in my space at all.
It's great that you're reading more. That's something I need to do.
I forgot that you're a phone guy. I started using my mobile camera, and that is about the only thing I do with it. It's permanently on silent, and I pick it up periodically throughout the day to see if anyone tried to reach me. I then prioritise what needs a response or not. 😅

Commercials and ads are infuriating indeed. I agree. There are no ads with the streaming sites though so I haven't had to watch a commercial in probably 8 years now. Yeah my phone is essentially my computer. At first I was like "this is great, I'm not watching TV for 2 hours a night after work anymkre!" but then I realized that I was just scrolling through my phone for that same amount of time. 2 hours watching TV or 2 hours on my phone... "6 or half a dozen." 😆

Sometimes the most beautiful thing in life is the simplest.

Yes, there's beauty and power in the simplest things. Sadly, it's often overlooked.
Yes, I'm on the mend physically, so my emotions will become better too.

Dark emotions consumed me all day, and I wanted to escape my mind.

I know this feeling, and a similar feeling too. Dark thoughts. This happened mostly in my childhood. These dark thoughts were against my feelings and my intentions. And they made serious effects in my life. And I do not know and/or I do not understand why these thoughts came and from where. I know that some of these dark thoughts were at least partially based on the fear of loss of a loved one, and wanting something, which financially we could not afford at that time. I do not know the other aspects, the other sources, the other reasons.

Animals do have a calming effect on me, and the cat seemed to like my energy, which made me smile.

Animals are the best for me. Especially the birds. Nowadays they are my only true love and true enjoyment.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment.😊
I'm sorry to hear that you experienced so much so young, but you seem to be in a good place now.

Dark thoughts were at least partially based on the fear of loss of a loved one

That I relate to, and luckily I was able to overcome that fear, which eventually prepared for for reality.
These thoughts can be overwhelming, but with courage, taking responsibility and acknowledging that we are in control of our emotions and thoughts, will help us to achieve happiness.

I do love birds too, and I religiously take the time to look up and admire flocks of birds flying high.

Have a great day further🤗

Sunrise from my plants winterquarter. Time to clean them, give new soil and bring them outside

Still activities like these, doing simple things, following my flow is the most helpful to erase negative emotions for me.

Hope you feel better today 💖 sending sunshiny hugs

Seriously no, it's only ourself who can really help us get those dark emotions out in our head. Even if we receive help from people or doing some activities to forget it all - but if we doesn't help ourself, nothing will happen. It will just fully consume us and we will just go back to our daily routine feeling so heavy and frustrated. Aigooo.

So what you did is really great, doing things that will really help you and also with the will to help yourself to get better.

That's a nice walk you did there, you get to stumble upon that seemingly grumpy cat, or maybe he is having a bad day too (≧▽≦).

Only ourselves can help us get those dark emotions out of our heads.

💯%

... and we need to know that no matter how positively wired you are, there will be those days.
It is rewarding when you analyse those feelings and find light.
I thrive on movement and being outdoors, and my physical state influenced my emotional state, but I'm happy to work through it all.

stumble upon that seemingly grumpy cat.

Yeah, looks are deceiving. I was shocked by his reaction.
Thanks for your lovely comment.😊
Have a great day:)))

Dark emotions. It sometimes gets to us and gives us an earful. Everything we've gotten accustomed to helping us in these moments sometimes becomes burdensome to our mind.

It is at this moment that we are usually at a dilemma. Our heart, body, and soul aches. And I am glad you were able to find something to do. You were able to breathe and were interested in the things you love.

The cat looked super cute with the way it was standing. Hehe. Thanks for sharing this with us. I hope whatever you've got riled up gets better soon.

I kept nodding my head all through cause I could understand when your favourite things to do become uncomfortable. Especially with your favourite playlist. It begins to sound noisy in your ear cause you're just not at ease with yourself.
I'm glad you found something to alleviate your mood and that beautiful rainbow is the cherry on top, isn't it?

I'm sure the bad weather plays on people's mind making them feel uneasy. In the most extreme cases, they can make you feel nauseous and dizzy. This happened to my sister, back in March 2021, when we had a very bad storm. She woke up one morning feeling very dizzy and sick whenever she stood up. I was so worried she suffered a stroke, but she was ok as soon as she lay down. Then we googled it, and apparently some
people are very sensitive to atmospheric pressure changes. She was ok after the storm passed.

Maybe you suffered a mild form, or maybe you didn't, but it's something to keep in my mind. Glad you're feeling better now and your coping mechanisms and the breath of fresh air did the job

Yes, I'm extremely sensitive to that.
My vertigo kicks in so bad sometimes, and recently it's been horrible.
I'm feeling a lot better today though 🤗

What about you peeps? Do you try to enjoy a slow and easy Sunday and fit some me-time activities?

I wanted to go to the beach today. Unfortunately, we must saty home becuase my husband is making some repairs. Taking a walk is not an option for me now; it's too hot and humid outside. So I'm petting my cats and hiving a little. I'm good.

I hope you feel totally recovered soon. I've had vertigo thrice in my life. It makes me remember I can't control everything; it's frustrating but is an opportunity to make peace with my own vulnerability.

This Kiss blog idea looks nice. Let me see if I can come up with a decent post to share.

True! Sometimes it's so bad, that I think I'm gonna get a walking stick.
I hope the vertigo subsides and goes dormant soon. I go for long periods without a problem and then when it kicks in, it lingers.

I'm feeling much better today though:)

My doctor prescribed dimenhydrinate; it worked like 70% but made me sleepy--and a little stupid. I discovered that the vertigo came when I'd been sleep deprived for days, so I try to be careful about that now.

I'm glad you're better 🙏🏻

I understand you, and I think you did the right thing. You just have to be conscious and awake to be able to get negative thoughts out of your mind.
You are a warrior of light and you are in that rainbow if you want it. Just put it in your mind and breathe. It's very simple and you know it.

Still... I understand you. But stay strong!
