Recession is Hitting My Day Job

Although I don't have a "true" job, I piece my income together by doing several different gigs.

My main gig is working at a Psychic Hotline

I usually love the work. There is no set schedule, I work when I can, I earn per minute, and we are paid two times per month.

Most of the time my customers love my readings. I give them just enough confidence to keep going, and I give them great advice.

Really. I give great advice.

Want an example?

One time a young lady called in asking "when" she was going to get a job.

I told her that I could look into it psychically, or I could tell her to freshen up her resume, turn in 2-3 job applications per week, and spend as much time as she wanted to spend working looking for a job.

I reminded her that manifestation has to do with having a great outlook, and knowing that good things were coming in addition to taking physical actions.

Of course, its a psychic hotline, so I also gave her a time frame, and let her know which type of jobs I saw her getting.

Which I thought would narrow down the focus on where she was looking.

She LOVED the advice and was very happy.

But then she had a next question

Which dating app should I be using to find my next boyfriend.

My response?

"None of those!"

She immediately wanted to know WHY? Was there negative energy there? Were the men there not of good caliber? Did the apps use her pictures and likeness to advertise?

I let her know that none of these issues were the problem.

The problem was that she "really needed a job" and I could tell that she was more motivated to start dating, therefor was going to put a lot of effort into making her profile look "right."

I suggested she use all that time to keep looking for work instead.

Focus on the task at hand!

She was annoyed with my response, but let me know that I was 100 percent right. She spent a lot of time on dating apps and not a whole lot of time on looking for a job.

As much as I pat myself in the back

And as many positive reviews that I get. I am noticing that the job is drying up.

I used to set aside 2-3 hours at a time and that was enough income to keep me going.

Now I find myself online for long stretches of time, and receiving ZERO hits.

I think it has a lot to do with those stimulus checks we were getting

I have this sinking feeling that while there was "money for everyone" there were less Advice Givers logging in, and more clients who had an income to pay for readings.

Now there are more Psychics working, and it feels like there are less clients too.

I have been shifting my pricing around

However I do find that the cheaper I go, the more clients I get, but the end result $$$$$$$$$ is much the same as when I work at the higher rate.

And it is a lot more work.

Lately I have been getting a few of these emails

They love the readings, but can't afford them!

I am countering this by giving more attention to my clients

It annoys me to have to market and advertise myself, when I give a platform more than half of the income I make.

I feel like I am making money for the platform, so they should market and fill me up with clients.

If I am going to build my own client base on social media and with mailing lists, then I should build beyond the platform, and keep ALL of the income to myself.

So instead, I am simply going to use their tools, but use them more often.

I am working for long hours (which is ok, as long as I can hear the phone ring, I am "working"), and I am sending more emails to my clients.

Admitedly, having my phone on ALWAYS is a bit annoying, as everyone around me knows that I have to drop whatever task I am doing to answer. And someone else has to pick up the task (this includes entertaining the toddler, finishing dinner, or loading the dishwasher, while I walk towards my work station)

My guides are telling me the same thing I tell my clients.

Use common sense.

Email every day, show up every day, and, once you have a "good" sized list, start making a schedule.

I will be sending out daily emails

Consistency is key, and I know I can do it.

I also have a list of specials, and am creating pay-to-view emails, so I can build some passive income streams right on the platform.

Combatting this recession is no joke.

WWIT for me to have more than enough clients?

Are you wanting a reading?

We can swing that! I can text or call via discord, and you can pay in crypto.

Crypto prices are 0.99 USD per minute (paid in crypto).

I prefer HBD, but Hive, Hive-Engine Tokens, Litecoin, and Bitcoin are always accepted.

The 2008 recession was pretty bad. I hope that it doesn't get much worse than that.

I am truly afraid for a depression, but hope crypto and HIVE can help curve that.

Fingers crossed! You never know what the mentalists in charge have got planned.

I think everywhere is going to be hit pretty hard. There was just too much free money given out to people. We didn't take any because we didn't really need it and who knows what the potential cost might be if you do take it? I heard that the governments are going after people who claimed it but earned enough to not need it. I know people who took the bank's offer of 6 months of no mortgage payments but don't take into account that it just adds 6 months on to the end.

All of this is going to cripple the world economy for a while and there won't be "extras" for a lot of folks. I think that we will be okay in the end. I don't think it's going to have millions of people committing suicide or anything, it's just going to make us all look at what we need, more than what we want. It will all pick up again when things are figured out.

I live in California, have four kids, and bought a home in 2021, in a place that is going through gentrification. We did not qualify to receive a stimulus check, although it would have been very, very helpful.

The government sent the money to me anyway via direct deposit, right into my bank account.

It took a lot of restraint to not spend it, especially when everyone around me was flushed with extra cash.

Sure enough I owed taxes this year.

First time ever.

Super annoying. Good thing the money was just sitting in my account.

I hope things level off without too much loss of hope. Suicides, homelessness, loss of medical care, are all bad things.

Scary.

The only "good" thing I see is us as a community becoming more aware of our resources.
