Friendship, Crime & Chaos - "Seoul Vibe" Review

It's been a while I shared a post here and today, I've been struggling on what to write then I remembered I had recently seen a short Korean movie that left an impression which I'd love to share in a review. I thought it'd be perfect to share it here with other Korean movie lovers and it's a nice watch for who wants a short nice story.

I spent the complete 2 hours plus to see this movie because I couldn't find a scene to fast forward or skip like I do with some boring short movies, I think that says a lot about how vibeful this story is. It wasn't recommended to me but I had it downloaded because it was a short movie and I've randomly seen the poster around before.

"Seoul Vibe" is the title of the movie, I actually thought it was a series until it was time to have it downloaded. The movie was released in 2022 starring Yoo Ah-in, Go Kyung-pyo, Lee Kyoo-hyung, Park Ju-hyun and Ong Seong-wu as the main characters (friends and car racers). The storyline brings them to a life threatening deal.

Dong-wook (the leader of the friend group) accepts a prosecutor's offer to help with a difficult in exchange of being free of all charges the law had against them. The five friends agree to the deal not realizing just how dangerous it is. Everything went smoothly until they got threatened and the prosecutor was murdered.

The story didn't share much about personal stories as it is typical for some movies I've seen with close characters as this, but I understood each of their stand in the story. They chose each other everytime and that explains why they've been friends for so long to even commit crimes together. The joys and fights were so relatable.

I saw this character (Song Min-ho) for the first time in a series titled "The Ultimate Audition" and I totally loved his rap skills. Turns out he's actually a rapper and a singer, and a good actor too. I didn't recognise him in the role for some minutes but it was so satisfying to watch him even though he didn't take up much in the story.

I also remember the only female among the friends (Park Ju-hyun) from two other series "Love Play" and "The Forbidden Marriage". She's not a very good actress if I should compare her with the others I've seen but there's this unique way of her acting that she does that I really enjoy and look forward to when I see her act in a story.

The movie is a good one, the car races, the brain works, the laughters between friends, the dangerous and powerful personnels who had to meet their downfall in the end, the shortlived prosecutor who I'd have loved for him to stay alive till the end, the tensed jokes and scenes. It's a solid 8.5/10 rating from me, I'll recommend it.
