King Darius, A Parent's Toughest Decision

Hello my people happy Monday to all who read me here, I hope you have had a great weekend, today I come with another of my works, this is King Darius in which is the ruler of a small but famous kingdom called Cashmeer which is known for having the strongest and most battle-hardened knights of medieval times, King Darius is the father of 3 sons who are the best warriors in the kingdom, but the time has come for him to hand over the King's Sword to one of them and for him to assume the Title of King and take the reins of the Kingdom, the 3 sons are 1 year apart from each other and are extremely competitive. King Darius is in a dilemma because although by logic the eldest son should assume the throne, even so, he trusts and has faith in the youngest, since he sees him much more mature and focused and has all the qualities that a good ruler should have, while the eldest is very impulsive; that is why the King must make the best possible decision on who deserves to inherit the legendary Golden Sword with which he will rule the small kingdom of Cashmeer.

Hola mi gente feliz lunes a todos los que por aquí me leen, ojalá hayan tenido un gran fin de semana, hoy vengo con otra más de mis obras, se trata del Rey Darius en cuál es el gobernante de un pequeño pero famoso Reino llamado Cashmeer el cual es conocido por tener los caballeros más fuertes y aguerridos de la época medieval, El Rey Darius es padre de 3 hijos los cuales son los mejores guerreros del reino, pero ha llegado el momento en que ceda la Espada del rey a alguno de ellos y que este asuma el Titulo de Rey y lleve las riendas del Reino, los 3 hijos se llevan 1 año de diferencia entre si y son sumamente competitivos. El Rey Darius se encuentra en una disyuntiva pues a pesar de que por lógica el hijo mayor debería asumir el trono, aun así, el confía y tiene fe en el menor, puesto que lo ve mucho más maduro y centrado y tiene todas las cualidades que debería tener un buen gobernante, mientras que el mayor es muy impulsivo; es por ello el Rey deberá tomar la mejor decisión posible sobre quien merece heredar la legendaria espada Dorada con la cual regirá el pequeño reino de Cashmeer.

PROCESS / PROCESO

First of all, in this work my idea was to build a character that had a certain age and represented the leader of a kingdom in this case, so I created a middle-aged man, about 55 years old or more, with long hair and a fairly formal and elegant dress as you would expect from a King, little by little I was building this character with a new sketch brush that I created and configured a little days ago to achieve a little cleaner strokes. Then came the colors for the skin where I used quite medium tones, I was adding one on top of the other to establish a mix of appropriate colors.

Primero que nada, en esta obra mi idea era la de construir un personaje que tuviera cierta edad y que representara al líder de un reino en este caso, por eso cree a un hombre de edad media, como de aproximadamente unos 55 años o más, con una larga cabellera y una vestimenta bastante formal y elegante como se esperaría de un Rey, poco a poco fui construyendo a este personaje con un nuevo pincel de bocetado que cree y configure un poco hace días atrás para lograr trazos un poco más limpios. Luego vinieron los colores para la piel donde usé tonos bastante medios, fui agregando uno sobre otro para ir estableciendo una mezcla de colores adecuados.

The next thing I did for this work was to continue with the painting of the eyes and for this I used quite intense tones, for the eyeball of the eyes I used a tone of gray much stronger than those I normally use in my drawings, then I worked this section with shades of yellow also a little intense and then layer by layer I was giving more detail to the eyes with much smaller and specific brushes. After finishing with the eyes the next thing I did was to paint very well the clothes of King Darius, first of all, I set a medium red tone as a base for the royal costume and then with smaller brushes and with relief I was giving more detail to the clothes so that it was like what I had in mind.

Lo siguiente que hice para esta obra fue continuar con el pintado de los ojos y para ello use tonos bastante intensos, para el globo ocular de los ojos use un tono de gris mucho más fuerte que los que uso normalmente en mis dibujos, luego trabaje este apartado con tonos de amarillo también un poco intensos y luego capa a capa le fui dando mayor detalle a los ojos con pinceles muchos más pequeños y específicos. Luego de terminar con los ojos lo siguiente que hice fue pintar muy bien la vestimenta de rey Darius, primero que nada, senté un tono rojo medio como base para el traje real y posteriormente con pinceles más pequeños y con relieve fui dándole mayor detalle a la vestimenta para que esta quedara como lo que yo tenía en mente.

For the hair section I spent enough time to achieve a good look, try to make a long hair as usually has the kings and rulers in medieval movies, for this I used yellow tones in great variety, first with the airbrush brush then watercolor and finally the blending brush. Finally I moved on to the creation of the king's sword, for this I decided to paint it in yellow tones to achieve the appearance of a sword made of gold, for this I applied the first tones of the sword with flat brushes and then the other tones with layer effects to create that metallic sheen of the sword.

Para el apartado del pelo ocupe bástate tiempo para lograr una buena apariencia, trate de hacer una larga cabellera como normalmente la tiene los reyes y gobernantes en las películas medievales, para esto use tonos amarillos en gran variedad, primero con el pincen aerógrafo luego acuarela y por último el pincel de mezclado. Ya por ultimo me pasé a la creación de la espada del rey, para ello decidí pintarla de tonos amarillos para lograr una apariencia de espada hecha de oro, para ello apliqué los primeros tonos de la espada con pinceles planos y luego los demás tonos con efectos de capa para logra crear ese brillo metálico de la espada.

Finally I finished adding several more layer effects to finish the sword as I wanted at first, plus I added some small details in the handle of the sword in dark brown and yellow tones. Then to complement a little the work and not look so empty I decided to paint a kind of wall of the special room where he keeps the Legendary Sword of the King of Cashmeer.

Ya por ultimo termine de agregar varios efectos más de capa para terminar la espada como yo quería en un principio, además de añadir unos pequeños detalles en el puño de la espada en tonos marrón oscuro y amarillo. Luego para complementar un poco la obra y que no se viera tan vacía decidí pintar una especie de pared del cuarto especial donde guarda la Legendaria Espada del Rey de Cashmeer.
