Sharing the status and tips of my ampalaya plants and relishing my first harvest in the middle of the summer season.

It's @luckylaica again for another garden update. If you're following my garden blogs a month ago I planted three Ampalaya or in English, they call bitter gourd. The two seedlings are placed near my mixed vegetable plants but mostly you can spot eggplants there and the other seedling I did try to place on my kiddy plant shelter where I thought they can climb up to a net which serves as a roof for my ornamental plants and more.

I guess only a few are fans of bitter gourds because of their bitter taste so I think only a few are planting this kind of fruit but if you know how healthy to consume bitter gourds fruits and their leaves useful for medicinal purposes you must try to grow them at home.

Here is the status and I will give you some ideas or tips on how to grow them based on my experience.

Here are the two bitter gourds I place on both sides of the fence to climb in one corner of my garden. They are transplanted on the same day as the other one I planted in my shelter. The two seem not so healthy you can notice its very small leaves and looks yellowish maybe its because in this part of the garden is very exposed to sunlight and this month's we experience a very hot season so whenever I'm busy no wonder I skip watering them so until now I never tried seeing them bare flowers.

This is the one I planted inside the shelter, it grows very well, the leaves are grown large and greenish very far from the two outside. It now bears many flowers as well as subsequent fruits.

Today it grows very wild and it's happily gliding in the different parts of my shelter. Since from two weeks I spotted its fruit just this morning I pick its first fruit and made some simple breakfast. I also save the mature seeds because I want to try to replant more of them and what a surprise that it has only 3 mature seeds it seems like it only returns me the three seeds I grow before.😁

I guess the only best way to enjoy eating bitter gourds is to saute them with eggs and I once tried them grilled dip with flavourful vinegar but I like them better when sauteed.

So for those who like to grow bitter gourds, they really thrive in places that don't expose to much sunlight and they love it when they have a lot of trellises to glide, also they like it when you smoke them some time and of course proper watering and care and by the way never tried to touch hard their fruit I tried to move them to hang them correctly and not lying on the net but it happened, they did not grow and just turned yellow and after a few days they fell off.
