(ENG - ESP) My weekend in Lechería (...And my first time traveling alone) Anzoátegui/Venezuela
Greetings to everyone in this traveling community, I hope you had a good start of the week. I started my week coming back home after a wonderful weekend in my favorite city: Lechería! It is also the smallest municipality in Venezuela. It is my favorite city not only because of its beauty but also because most of my childhood memories were created there, along with my maternal family. So I turned out to be very attached to this place, I really feel at home there. The last time I had the opportunity to go visit was in 2019, just before the pandemic and the quarantine by Covid-19. After almost 3 years without going, out of the blue an impromptu trip presented itself that I did completely alone!!! I had never traveled completely alone before, it was truly overwhelming but I finally made it. I hired a cab and set out on my journey.

The beginning of my trip
I left early in the morning, my car ride lasted 5 hours, before lunch time I was already at my family's house. In the middle of the way the driver told me about a restaurant that was nearby, where they served breakfast, and I wanted to try the food there so we stopped to buy some empanadas.

That empanada I ate is probably one of the best I have ever eaten in my life, besides being super big, it was shrimp. I even had to order to go because even though I was full, I needed to have one more for later.
This restaurant is called 'Los Pilone' and this is what it looks like inside.

After breakfast we went back to the car and continued our trip. Shortly after that we arrived in Barcelona and my trip was almost over.

That afternoon I didn't do anything specific, I was very tired and stayed at home to sleep and replenish my energy.

The next morning my exciting day in the city began. The first thing we did was to go to the market to buy vegetables.

Then we went to buy lunch, and we really wanted to eat cachapas so we went to Puerto La Cruz, which is right next to Lechería, another city in Anzoátegui. There is a place there that sells gigantic and delicious cachapas.

In that cachapera they prepared their own dough for cachapas, so I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the process. First a man piles the corn.

Then that corn is passed to a plate from which they take it to grind it.

Then with that corn they prepared the dough adding all the other ingredients. And that dough was taken outside where the griddle was to prepare the cachapas.

Then they stuffed them...
Luego las rellenaron...

We ordered them with pork and cheese filling.
We went back home to eat, rest and get ready to go to the beach.

The beach

We went to a beach where my uncle was having a Kitesurfing event, a sport he has been practicing for years and is very passionate about. There was a big competition and therefore a lot of kites on the sand (the kite is the instrument with which this sport is practiced).

Then the big kite race started! Everything looked very beautiful that day.
That race lasted a long time and there were many competitors, I had never been in a competition of this sport or in an event, so it was an experience that I enjoyed a lot, here in Venezuela is usually practiced in Margarita and Lechería.

That day I was on the beach until the night, and it adds up to another totally new experience for me, I had never swam at night before.

It was two days of Kite competition so the next day I did practically the same, only this day the power went out all over Barcelona. It was a blackout for about 7 or 8 hours, I was a bit disappointed since it was my last night there and being without power was not pleasant, however I ended my trip grateful for all the other things I was able to experience. Next time I go back I hope to stay many more days and be able to experience more things.
