My Actifit Report Card: April 28 2022

I played Dry Creek disc golf course today. When I arrived some people from the city were killing the prarie dogs. I was feeling like playing somewhere else when I found that out but I kept playing there.

They told me it was because the prarie dogs kill all the vegetation by eating the plants roots. Actually I like the holes where the prarie dogs are living because it is a lot easier to find your disc there. The city never mows any of the fairways and the grass gets very high in many places on the course.

On hole two I threw just to the right of the basket and figured it would be easy to find but this was not the case. The grass was so tall the disc was hidden beneath it and it was hard to see where it landed. I found a nice max weight Pro Destroyer disc while looking for my disc. It had been out in the sun for some time and was bleached white and had no name on it. It flys very nicely but is heavier than I usually like.

A twisted piece of wood:

On hole ten the disc landed on the other side of the ditch:

I was testing the new Destroyer disc and almost lost it on the second throw. It is a little less stable than my other twelve speed driver the Sword disc and it ended up turning right and almost going in the ditch. The basket is at 350 feet and usually I have been throwing a slower speed disc to avoid going too far but I wanted to try my new find. It has some good distance to it.

I had to hike all the way around to play from where the disc landed and then all the way back to try the putt. By the time I did that I was tired out and frustrated a bit and I missed the putt.

After that I found a bridge by hole eleven that would have saved some steps. It was getting hot and windy by that time, and after taking a couple more bogeys I decided to go home.

The first nine holes I played a -1 but was not doing as well on the second part of the course.

This is the first time I have heard that prairie dogs eat tree prey. Of course, there is no such dog in our country. The trunk of the tree looks very beautiful as well as the doggie and the environment you have extraordinarily portrayed through photography.

It seemed like playing golf these days was less fun because there were so many people from town to kill the plant-eating dogs.

By the way the picture in the photo is very unique I like it.good wishes to you.

It actually took me some times to believe that was a piece of wood. Nice Atifit count though.

Both photos are beautiful and your doggie looks happy.

I was testing the new Destroyer disc and almost lost it on the second throw.

I think, we don't have idea with new disc how much they cover distance that is why it almost lost.
Stay healthy and Blessed.

That is terrible. I know in 2019 there were prairie dogs in the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge that were infected with the Plague - they closed down parts of that and treated the holes to kill the fleas. In Colorado, you can legally shoot them if you have permits, but, I am not a fan of it and I can see why you wanted to leave.

It sounds like you got a real win finding that disc. The sun damage didn't seem to hurt the discs' performance. Finding these discs' is like a hobby, isn't it? :) You really pushed your numbers up today, was that from walking all over that course?

I cannot believe how good Doggie is, patiently waiting until you finish your round. Does he ever get impatient and bark at you?

That twisted piece of driftwood or someday driftwood is such a great subject. I used to like to pick up small pieces of driftwood on my walks. That is a little bigger than I would bargain for, but, nice pics. :)

These prairie dogs are healthy as far as I know. What gets to me is that there are a host of other critters that depend on them being around. Hawks, ferrets, snakes, etc. We are facing a major extinction event where many things are having difficulty with lost habitat and the changing climate. The loss of biodiversity from these changes will be a profound loss for succeeding generations imho.

If anything the sun and wear seems to make the discs easier to throw farther while still retaining a lot of the original fade. I like stuff that has been broken in a bit. (Unless it is broken in a bit too much - this happens on some of the softer cheaper plastics.)

Doggie is generally pretty good unless people or other dogs get within circle one range, (33 feet or ten paces.) He has on occasion razzed me big time by barking and dragging my bag around. This usually results in a couple extra throws but my mental game is getting a bit better.

Actually the wood piece is very small (about eight inches?) There is nothing that shows scale in the photo, this was kind of intentional.
