A world without borders

Borders are necessary to demarcate nations from one another, which enables them to establish laws that are to be used within the country. A lot of countries have very strict border security and you can't easily get into such countries without following the proper channels. On the other hand, some countries have very weak and porous borders, which makes it easy for anybody to get in and a typical example of that is Nigeria.

I have been to one of the borders and I can tell you first-hand that it is not secured, despite the presence of immigration officers and the army. These guys are easily bribed and they turn a blind eye to whatever goes on around those borders. This is why we are having so many security challenges because criminals move in from other countries. The Boko Haram terrorists that have been ravaging Nigeria were said to have come into the country from Niger Republic, and they can also easily go there to hide during intense periods.

The security of a nation is closely tied to its borders because how secured your border is also determines the security level of the country. What do I mean? Look at the US for example, they have very secure borders and are able to neutralize most threats that come from outside the country. When they are faced with security challenges, they know that it's caused by internal factors. They can easily trace such internal factors because everyone in the country is registered and can be traced through sophisticated technology. The major insecurity problem in the US is gun violence, I wonder why they haven't banned guns yet

Meanwhile in Nigeria, we lack the necessary infrastructure to even control internal security, not to mention external one. Right now, bandits and herdsmen are giving us a very hard time and have even turned some villages into their strongholds. We don't even know if they are citizens of the country or if they are from neighbouring countries. These criminals use phones to make calls but despite making it mandatory for everyone to link their national identity number to their sim cards just to make it easier to catch criminals, they are yet to be caught.

But let's now tackle the big question; would I be a traveler in a world without borders and issues of insecurity? The first question I will ask is; would the travelling be free? I mean, will free transportation be part of this deal? If yes, then certainly I would be a traveller in such a world. I can just travel to any country without worrying about the cost of transportation and I would do this by road. One thing I love about travelling is not even getting to the destination, but the journey itself.

I love seeing new things and beautiful scenery while I'm sitting by the window on a bus. I also love to buy food and drinks while on the road or whenever the bus stops for a break. These are things that don't exist in air transportation and travelling by such means is boring to me (even though I have never been on an aeroplane 😅). But I guess I'm just getting ahead of myself because it was never specified that transportation would be free. In that case, nothing much will change with me.

Right now, my first obstacle to travelling around the world is money, so even if borders don't exist and insecurity isn't a thing, I won't be doing much travelling because I can't even afford to do so. Right now, I'm mostly at home every day and my neighbourhood is relatively safe as I can't even remember the last time I heard of stealing or even robbery. I can even imagine now that all borders are opened and insecurity is no longer an issue because I only hear about it in news reports. Even at that, I can't afford to travel anywhere now and would rather focus on making money.

The way I see it, such a world won't even be possible. A world without insecurity is like saying everybody will become good and there will no longer be evil. Evil thoughts are what lead to crime in the first place, and this in turn leads to insecurity. So, would it be possible for evil people to no longer exist in the world? Definitely not, good and evil exist in harmony in this world and we just have to accept this fact. A borderless world won't be possible as well because once upon a time, there were no borders in the world but as time went on, they were introduced to solve a lot of problems.

Having no borders will mean that people can easily move from developing countries to developed ones, and this will lead to a shift in balance. Developed countries will suffer from overpopulation while developing countries will be faced with underpopulation. This will make it very hard to allocate resources and in the long run, such countries will fall into anarchy. Some countries like the UK and Canada have even started to tighten their immigration policies due to overpopulation. So, for now, borders are necessary and I believe it will be that way for a very long time.

If the money is there, then travelling is a go go.

I don't want to talk about Nigeria but well, all I can say is that it's well.

First of all, I love the images you used here..so awesome 😎👍. I also love the question you asked if traveling will be free? Haha 😆😂...that's a nice question but even it's not free, a perfect world means no poverty . Also everyone cannot be good even without insecurity...so let's strive to be good individually

It's this nature of good and bad that brings about insecurity, and right now everyone in the world can't be good. Thanks for stopping by ma 😊

Is the free trip for me? Ok,let's say it's free and you will even be paid some travel allowance.

Setting boundaries helps to main order in everything and you are right to say the extent to which a country is secured is not far from it's borders

If the trip will be free and I can go anywhere in the world, then it will certainly be a great opportunity because transportation cost can be very expensive. Thanks for stopping by

Boarders are very important. Hmmmm a world without boarder that will just be good for imagination. If my country will be without boarder then I would have left since to another country.

Same here 😅 if there were no borders, many of us would have left the country immediately. Thanks for dropping by
