As Lagos can be a very good place for business for the smarter guys, it can also be a very, very challenging place for newcomers or newbies. 😅 I remember an event when a woman was coming from Abeokuta, Ogun State, to Lagos State for the first time
So, when this woman dropped at Ile Bus stop, just as it's about to cross, this area boy knows how to identify a newbie through their crossing style and how they used to watch the bus when it's coming. 😎 This woman approached them, stating she's going somewhere and asked for their address.
In the process of trying to help this woman board a new bus to her new destination, these people know how to remove stuff from your bag, even going as far as cutting your bags and removing all the necessary and valuable items. 😱 The only way this woman does not know anything and was not living smart enough to identify what this gang and this tout are capable of doing in Lagos state.
Though some of them are aware of all these activities, they are not careful enough to identify their tricks and the logic used to cut your bags and remove stuff and money, even if you hide the money under your clothes. 🤔
They put this woman in a commercial transit - it's Called (DANFO BUS) in Lagos, Nigeria, in the name of helping her to the next bus stop. 😆 The conductor asked for the fare; the woman confidently deep hand in her big bag only to find nothing. Her purse had been stolen.
Some people in the bus were laughing, while some faced the woman and peeped at her t-shirt immediately. 😂 Some are calling the woman Johnny just come Lagos, which simply means she's new in Lagos State. Some are saying, "Don't worry; it will not happen to you next time🤣😭😳," which means - you are wise enough now, welcome to Lagos.
These are some of the things that happen in Lagos State, Nigeria. And sometimes even at the point of cutting the bags or doing all this stuff, if you dare talk or expose them, they will come after you straight to make sure that you are in or you pay dearly for exposing them. 🕵️♂️👀😬 These are the types of insecurity that are so rampant in Lagos State, Nigeria, which the Lagos State government is trying to battle.
But the most important thing is that when you are going out in Lagos State, make sure you are very, very careful. Now,
How I created an alternative for myself daily
Here is what I do when I'm going out in Lagos State: I don't keep all my money in the same bag or pocket. I try to spread my money. 🤑🤸
I put some money in the back pocket while I put some in the front pocket. If I'm traveling, I will put some in the travel bag. 🛄👍🤪
And if I'm going with somebody, I'll still make sure I give some to the person. So, in case anything happens, we will not be stranded. If the money in the back pocket is removed, the money in the front pocket will still be there. And if the bag is stolen or cut, the money in the front pocket can still sustain us back home. These are the experiences I encountered in Lagos State, and I encourage everyone to imbibe these simple techniques. 😅🙏🏻
Lagos is the best place to do business, and it can also be a challenging place if you are not smart enough to know how to keep your things perfectly. So what I want you to learn from here today is that when you come to Lagos, open your eyes,👀👁️ shine your eyes, and also don't keep all your money in one particular place.
