Future career plans, a brief thought

Often I think about how to evolve myself in what I do on a daily basis. I think evolving is something good , and doesn't alway mean that you have to go back to school, or do exactly the opposite all of a sudden. But it is a good thing to let the mind think a little bit if you want to do the same thing week in week out until your retirement time.

For me the main reason to even think about this is the physical aspect of work. In Holland currently the age of retirement is set at 67 years old, and honestly I think this will even be a lot higher by the time I reach that. Over the years I have seen a lot of the people working around me not reaching the finishline of that retirement, and the main reason of this is always because the work is just getting to heavy.

Standing for 9 hours straight in the weirdest positions (check the picture even, that already shows you some of this), getting called out of your bed (nightshifts are apparently the worst thing ever you can do to your body, although I do enjoy doing them), carrying around heavy patients and equipment, it is all not the best thing to do. And that while the job on itself it actually a beautiful thing. Someone has a problem and you can fix that. A problem is there when then come in, and when they walk out the problem is gone. Satisfying I would say.

But still, it is never a bad thing to consider not spending all of my time there, so maybe I will make it to the end of the line. I see a lot of people around me in the same positions struggling with this thing. They love their jobs, but will the job eventually wear them out before the time is there.

So it isn't a bad thing for all of these people to think about how they can sustainable stay in the field, but also keep it going for a long time. I am talking about people who like the job here, and not consider leaving it because they don't like it.

But thinking about what else in the world as a job to do, that makes me so unhappy sometimes because everything has their pros and cons. I would absolute hate working on a computer all day every day, because it is too solistic for me, and I like working in a team. Also I do like to teach and learn people stuff, but the same thing applies here. I would not like to teach all day and every day.

Balance is key.

It is weird sometimes to rethink about what you like to do and what you would like to do. What I do like is the idea that maybe crypto can play a role in how we think about that retirement age. If we would not depend so much on that the retirement age is 67, then I guess the idea of working a job for a long time is not that bad. Also it would be okay that to do an occasional side hussle here and there just for the fun of it, and still maintain the years of experience to pass them on to the next generation. I always find it such a pity when people with experience leave, because there is the true educationt that walks away.

So sidehussling due to crypto, that would to me be the ideal situation. Because lets face it. We work to pay the bills right?

So my question to you all people is. How do you deal with these things? Have you ever made a radical career move and changed it all? Do you think owning crypto will make a difference in how your future looks like, or may look like.

What do you consider the job of jobs and would that be the thing on what you do your whole life or what are the pros and cons on it all? I am looking for how people fill in their days and am just interested. So spill the beans!

I understand you like your job so much but as you said, it can wear you out too - given the demands of your job during this pandemic.

Have you ever made a radical career move and changed it all?

Not really a radical change just forced to go back to a job I left years ago, well, due to pandemic. We all still need to pay the bills and at the moment, cannot depend solely on crypto/hive.

I guess we are so different, I prefer to sit in front of my computer all day and I don't thrive in being part of a team lol. But being in front of my computer all day every day even if I like it can of course, wear me out too. Balance yes!

Yeah as following your story you line of work just got parked due to the pandemic. And that sucked because it seemed the job suites you really well right?

Balance is everything! Sometimes i dont like the working in a team as well because it means you also have to do everything on time and date and plan stuff while working alone you can plan yourself. I guess thst also gives a lot of freedom not having to rely on others all day.

Balance indeed!
