Efteling | A day at Hollands most fun family amusementpark

One of the amusement parks in Holland that literally everyone will know is the famous 'Efteling' themepark. Located in the south of Holland in Kaatsheuvel and based on the original fairy tales from Anton Pieck this themepark has a little bit for everyone in literally every age category.

I have very warm memories of this place from ever since I was a kid. I remember being scared in the haunted house, I remember the fairy tales in the fairy forest with mushrooms with music coming out of them.

Also I do remember from later on that I was also just a bit too scared to go on rollercoasters a lot, so I left that to the others, but that didn't matter. A day in the Efteling was always well spent.

The grand entrance of the park. I also remembered when they changed this and all of a sudden it turned into this. Made entirely out of wood and hay. A true craftmanship masterpiece

Back in the days there were always tremendous lines in front of here when everyone had to buy their ticket physically. All of that is over now since you can buy and reserve tickets online. This is a walk in the park (get it!!) getting in, and immediately you are in a different world.

Holle bolle gijs

One of the first things you encounter when entering the park is this old school thing called 'Holle Bolle Gijs'. This one shouts the whole time paper here and it is actually a waste basket which sucks in you waste.

When you pop something in there it politely says thank you and that makes it funs for the kids to ditch in their waste and not spread it through out the park.

Roller me this!

One of the big things that has increased over the last couple of years in the Efteling park is the amount of rollercoasters. And not just a simple rollercoaster like the oldest one there called the 'Python', but also the newer ones called 'Joris &the dragon' which are actually two coaster which always race each other.

But also the newest rollercoaster called the 'Baron' is one that some thrill seekers would really enjoy.

At the starting part of the coaster there is a moment when the carts hang there still on the top for a couple of seconds while looking down, and after that there is a total vertical drop inside a black whole which makes you totally feel no gravity at all, which is kinds special.

This is all from hearsay...I am too scared to go in honestly :)

Vogelrok

The next roaster in the park is a bit of an older one called the 'Vogelrok' and this is an inside coaster which is entirely in the dark.

With this grand entrance you just want to go and explore what is inside right?

The cool thing in the Efteling park is the increadible amount of details inside and out. While waiting in line at the 'Vogelrok' roaster you encounter this gigantic egg in the line and also hear the sound of seagulls the whole time.

The whole story about a big bird flying turbo across the sky is just complete!

Carnival Festival

This is one of the attractions that most people with always enjoy but you can feel that it is getting a little bit dated. Getting puppets from all around the world with this really catchy tune which does remind you of Disney's 'Its a small world' is just all about unity.

Did I mention catchy song? Hear for yourself here!

Details details details

As I mentioned the Efteling is all about the full experience for the whole family and it is put out way wider than a Disney park where some stuff feels a bit cramped every now and then.

The Efteling park is built in the woods and that gives a cool feeling the whole time.

This 'Pagode' attraction can be seen from miles away and is also one of the icons from the park.

But everything just feels in place. In the most simple playgrounds in the park (yes there are also easy playgrounds) the amount of details on this ship which is part of the water themed corner, are just all well thought about.

For the Efteling I can only say...when you are in Holland and have a spare moment....just visit it. You and the family will not regret it at all!
