Finding an Olympic-sized Pool in Bohol!

I never thought that us missing out on the boat to Cebu would be a blessing. First, we were a bit dismayed that we have to spend money on lodging as most of the rooms in Loon are expensive, staying for just a few hours would let us spend more than PHP 1500. My idea was to just find somewhere where we could enjoy the rest of the day and then just stay in the car until the early morning the next day. I thought that was a good plan so we went searching for where we could spend the entire afternoon.

As we were driving to town, we found Tubig Loon Spring Park, which sounds fun and so we headed to the location, we had no idea what to find there.

We reached the location which was just behind the Loon Fire Station and the government office Municipality of Loon, we realized this was a government-owned property and it has an entrance fee of only PHP 80 for adults! Children 4 and below are free while children 5-12 are half the price.

That was already quarter to four when we arrived here. There was only one group of visitors and the staff around seemed like they want to already go home. The park closes at five so it was understandable. At first, we had no plans of swimming because Matti was already asleep, he got tired from all the hugot at 99 Hugot Lines, teehee.

And so we just walked around while the baby was sleeping on his papa's shoulders. The park has this unique pool form and they have some reptile slides, one was a frog and the other one was a lizard.

There are also huts located at different spots, shower areas and comfort rooms are also there. Changing rooms are just next to the shower corner, and they have lifeguards on duty too, although they were busy with their phones, they were alert as there was one lady who sort of slipped while in the changing area and they were fast to respond.

What we were excited actually after walking to the end of this unique pool which reminded us of the pool in JPark, we went inside their Olympic-sized swimming pool and were really in awe to see one in Bohol. I am not sure if there's any other pool this big in Bohol, I believe there are but this was the first time that I have seen one in person this close. I have seen that in Cebu but from afar only.

There are eight lanes here and I can see that this was definitely deep! We have to take selfies with the pool and even if the baby was asleep just so we could have a souvenir.

After stalking Tubig Loon Spring Park, I found that they have their own swimming team named Loon Dolphins, they practice here and the park also accepts those who want to be trained. This pool was only for those who are training and for competitions alone.

Matti was still sleeping so we decided to find a seat to rest. But as soon as we stopped walking, he woke up! Teehee!

And the first thing he said was, Pool! He loves swimming and so seeing a pool right in front of him was really a surprise! He immediately told my husband he had to change his swimming outfit! I was still on the bridge going to where they were seated when he just kept shouting, mama, I need to change!

IMG_3749.JPG

And so we got him changed, showered and he specifically asked that he go into the slide! We were amazed at this bravery, this little one was not afraid of the frog side, this was a cement one and my concern was that he have not tried a concrete slide, he had a lot of experience with slides but all of those were made of plastic.

But we still let him, I had to hold him while he was on his way up and then his papa have to wait at the base. There was water gushing out of the slide which aids for everyone to slide well and smoothly. He even remembered that he shouldn't be holding the sides while going down.

IMG_3759.JPG

He was not contented with the small one, he requested that we go to the bigger and longer one. I only allowed him to slide once in this bigger one because I felt like it was dangerous because of the longer slide, he might hit his head.

But I was really proud that this baby is very brave. We headed to this part of the pool and my husband said it was a bit warmer than the other pools. Matti liked it and spent a lot of time here until we decided to go show him the Olympic-sized pool!

There are little bridges like this in the right photo. It was cute We could have flown the drone if my husband charged all the batteries. Unfortunately, the drone's battery drained from the previous flight so I guess we have another reason to return here.

Matti was really happy, he was having a lot of fun even if it was just the three of us. At this time, the other group had already gone home. It was almost five but the staff said we can stay longer as there will be someone training later that day.

While chatting with the staff, we figured that there's a room for rent just opposite the park and it's just worth Php 500! The room is air-conditioned so we gave it a go. I am glad we finally found one which was just enough for our budget! This visit was a blessing!

Before getting to the Olympic-sized pool, we request Matti to pose here and hold his arms up like winning a race! He was super cool with it and his face shows in the photo above!

It was indeed a good day, we ended our day at a restaurant in Loon, I'll blog about it later. Although we were not able to travel to Cebu right away, we were glad God provided a time for us to have quality moments with our little family. We even found a place to stay for a very affordable price and even found something new for us during that holiday. Indeed, it was a labor's day!

I have seen a video somewhere where they asked many kids when they feel that they are loved and the majority of them answered, it's when their parents play with them. I am a believer that time spent with our kids is what they can read as love. And so this moment right here was truly a blessing! I know Matti will remember this.
