Asturians say, referring to their land, that the Principality of Asturias is a Natural Paradise that God put on earth to the envy of the whole world and although they are right, their neighbors in Cantabria could say the same.

Golden sands

Like Asturias, Cantabria is also affected by places of privileged natural charm, which in addition to having nothing to envy its neighbors, both Asturian and Basque, constitute by themselves a true paradise for the senses.

A temperamental but pleasant coast

Sharing, therefore, with Basques and Asturians that rugged but nevertheless wonderful coastline that the waters of the Cantabrian Sea have been carving with the patience of millions of years, the Cantabrian coast invites you to delve into the media picturesqueness of its most emblematic places.

Clean waters like mirrors

One of them, without any doubt, is the beautiful fishing village of Castro Urdiales, with a long history behind it, metaphorically speaking, before and after becoming the Roman Flabiobriga, once the bellicose Celtiberian tribes that inhabited the area have been appeased and that during what is known as the Cantabrian Wars, they sowed the corpses of Roman legionaries on the soil that they had always considered sacred.

Although at present it does not seem like it and the great oceanic cruises are seen only in the distance, Castro Urdiales was always one of the main ports of the Cantabrian Sea and of that trade, both of merchandise and of countless pilgrims who came to pay their respects. to the supposed remains of the Apostle Saint James, the impressive presence of the Gothic church dedicated to the figure of the Assumption, located next to the castle that at the same time serves as a lighthouse, is anchored little more or less than in that crescent horn that forms its position with the extensions of the port, the promenade and the beautiful beach of Brazomar, a place that I want to present to you in this post.

White waters but at the same time tame when reaching the shore

Located, as I say, at the other end of that metaphorical lunar horn that forms with the Gothic church of La Asunción and leaving aside the presence of the notable modernist palaces that adorn the Seafront, the Brazomar beach surprises, not only because of the extreme cleanliness that is appreciated in it, but also for the golden hue of its sands and waters that, although wild out to sea, approach its shores with the meekness of a well-educated greyhound.

These, they do it throughout its approximately four hundred meters, maintaining a temperature of around twenty degrees, which means that even in times outside the summer season, it is not, in any way, infrequent to see people, not only walking along its banks, but also enjoying the bath despite the inclement weather of a time characterized by its frequent rainfall.

Rivalry between water and sky

This means, however, that even in moments when the skies are covered and present some dark clouds that threaten to turn the place into a new Atlantis, the last rays of the sun when retiring, seek not only moments of unprecedented tranquility, where It seems that time, in some capricious way, has stopped, but also the spectacle of contemplating some really beautiful tones that are difficult for the retina to forget.
