The Day That Vanished While Jessica Snoozed

After Jessica stayed up late binge watching Nollywood movies the night before, she ended up sleeping the entire next day away. When she finally peeled her eyes open and yawned deeply, feeling refreshed but quite stiff, Jessica noticed the room seemed rather dim.

"Hmm, maybe a storm is coming," she murmured. Changing out of her pajamas before heading outside to check the sky, Jessica picked a vibrant pink and orange wrapper and matching top. Perfect cute attire for a fresh new morning!

She tied her headwrap neatly and put on some sandals before pushing open the front door. Stretching her arms to welcome the expected sunshine, she was surprised to see dusk approaching instead, the neighborhood bathed in golden sunset glow.

But when Jessica spotted her neighbor Chidimma watering plants nearby, her still sleepy brain convinced her it must be the start of a bright new day no matter what her eyes showed! "Hello, good morning my sister!" Jessica called out cheerfully.

Chidimma looked up puzzled, then amused as she took in Jessica’s brightly colored morning outfit paired with sleepy eyes at nearly 7pm. “Sister Jessie, I think you must still be dreaming if you are confused morning and evening like this!” She chuckled lightheartedly.

Jessica blinked slowly, beginning to realize the actual hour after seeing lights turning on inside houses. She shook her head and laughed at her silly mistake. “Aiyyo, my eyes are deceiving me. But please where did this whole day run off to like a cheeky goat! Let me get back inside and wake up proper before I roam the streets wishing people good night at noon tomorrow!"

The two friends continued laughing together, Chidimma promising to come over later with some strong coffee to help get Jessica’s internal clock back in order. As Jessica headed inside, she made a note to set her alarm clock extra early after such epic marathon napping! No more midday movie binges for her either if it meant confusing sunrise and sunset again!
