I hate the so-called Filipino time

Last Friday (January 06, 2023), I attended our women's association event which is an extension of Christmas party and at the same time a search for the jewel of the new hope women's association (locally called as Mutya Ng Bagong Pag-asa Women's Association).

Our Women leader told us that the program will start at 1pm. I and my neighbors went to the venue before 1pm because we don't want to be late and we followed the instruction. When we were there, there are still few women writing their names for the attendance.

Minutes passed and still the program didn't start. Those early birds already ranting why the program still didn't start. This is what I hate, the so-called Filipino time. The program will start so late from the agreed time.

At last! The program started with the singing of women theme song at 1:55pm. Imagine, 55 minutes late?

The invocation and welcome remarks of the women president followed.

Good thing the program continues smoothly. A woman representative from every Purok shows their production number followed by their introduction.

While the candidates are preparing for their sports attire, these women gave an intermission number that made the crowd clap their hands loudly. Who would have thought that they are dancing so gracefully especially that woman in the front with white shoes. She really dance well and with feelings.

The candidates now showed their sports attire. Here they are.

Candidates number one, two, three and four. They have chosen different sports. One for a rider, badminton, is it volleyball and badminton as well.

Candidates number five, six and seven. Five is horse rider, six is skate boarder and the last is also badminton.

Women are so excited to see candidate number six to ride her skate board but oh she is just bringing it on. Expectation failed, lol.

I really like candidate number 7, I like how she project in front of the audience. I find her beautiful too and I like her simple morena beauty.

Candidate number eight sports is lawn tennis, right? And the last candidate number 9 is a horse rider too.

Candidate number 9 brings fun for the crowd because of her unique actions. She walks differently among the others and when she smiles we can see her having no teeth. She also paused in front of the judges and jokingly point her toy gun on them making the judges laugh.

While they are preparing for their formal attire, one of our local counselor and the representative of our vice mayor gave their message.

Now, here are the candidates in their formal attire. Everyone walks accordingly and they really look so good. Candidates number 9, again brings fun to the crowd as she acts something that made the audience laugh. This candidate have a great audience impact.

While waiting for the result, these women gave an intermission number. Women is always ready and always on the go. They are well trained by their trainor who also joins them in dancing.

And now, here are the result.

Candidate number 6 won the best in production number and the best in introduction.

Candidate number 7 won the best in sport wear and the best in formal attire. This candidate won my vote if I am one of the judges, she will be the winner.

The darling of the crowd goes to, no other than candidate number nine. She really deserves it and we are so thankful for having her in that event because the whole event didn't get bored because of her.

Lastly, the crown for Mutya Ng BPWA (Bagong Pag-asa Women's Association) goes to candidate number 5.

I don't know how they choose her because we don't even know the criteria for judging. Our Purok leader mentioned that she is the trainor of the candidates and she said she should not join as one of the candidates. Anyway, it is not my business. At least, I have enjoyed and I had fun during that event even I felt bad in the beginning because it didn't start on time.

The first part of the program ended late in the afternoon and I need to go home to prepare for the Sabbath. So, I just leave my gift to our leader and went home.

When we see each other again, our leader said that my name was called for the raffle but the prize was not given because I already went home.

That event empowered women and atleast we have some time to enjoy and had fun.

Thank you for reading.

😁 How did they choose the winner?

Anyway even if it started late, the program looked enjoyable. As always, being late is one of the things we will consider in putting the schedule for an event. So if you want to start at 1 pm you will write 12nn. 😁

That's my question too because there is no question and answer portion. They never read the criteria for judging too. Bahala Sila hehehe Basta pinatawa kami ni candidate number 9 hehehe.

It’s annoying when things start so late for sure! At least you had a good time so that was a plus!

Oh yes, the boring time of waiting was replaced with fun in the activity itself.

It all looks pretty fun!

A friend of mine has worked in Indonesia a bit and it's a similar thing... there's really only two times... morning and afternoon and you really have no idea when something is going to start. You feel like you spend half your life waiting...

Lol, there is this kind too in Indonesia? Good luck to us for waiting so long. The patience is really being tested.
