(ESP-ENG) Widow's Bay | A very disturbing island - Series Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Apple TV's success as a platform is undeniable, but not in terms of subscriber numbers or financially. We're talking about the production quality of its series, how truly good they are compared to other entertainment companies. The Curse of Widow's Bay is a prime example. Making horror series is incredibly difficult, which is why so few dare to attempt it. That's why when one truly worthwhile comes along, it gets everyone talking. For me, this story is the biggest surprise of the year, one of the best horror/suspense series you can watch in 2026.
The protagonist of this story is Tom Loftis, the mayor of this peculiar and sinister town located on an island in New England. His plan is to revitalize the place, to make it competitive with neighboring towns by attracting tourists and thus saving it economically. The problem? Its history, or rather, the stories circulating in the streets about its supposed curse. The older residents are convinced that Widow's Bay is no ordinary town and that it's plagued by paranormal events and the occasional tragedy that has occurred over the years. Superstition permeates every corner of the place.

Clearly, Loftis doesn't believe any of it at first. Despite this, he'll do everything he can to bring money to the island, even going so far as to reopen an old hotel rumored to be incredibly haunted, and obviously having to deal with these stories every day. The thing is, as time goes on, Tom gradually realizes that things aren't as normal as they seemed. From a thick fog that makes people disappear to centuries-old rituals, he begins to see reason. This 10-episode series focuses on how this utterly skeptical man with a very particular personality begins to awaken from the denial he's been immersed in for so long, and thus confront the true nature of the island.
There's something cool about this series: besides the horror and mystery, it has a really interesting comedy element. There's something about the interactions between the characters that makes you genuinely laugh. Personalities, quirks, gestures—there's a little bit of everything so that, amidst the horror of living in Widow's Bay, the viewer can find humor in it. But of course, it's not all about the horror. The horror scenes, the intrigue woven into the story, the island's centuries-old mystery, the inexplicable events—because yes, some things happen that simply can't be real—that's what makes this series incredible. It's very well done, not pretentious or trying to exaggerate anything. It has its jump scares, there's tension and anxiety, and, as always, a plot twist at the end of the season.

We already know that the second season is confirmed, so it's understood that the story doesn't end with episode 10. The acting is excellent because the characters aren't your average selves; they have very specific personalities that inevitably make you laugh. They seem like characters straight out of The Office. Curses, disappearances, deaths, murders, paranormal activity, and comedy are what you'll find in this series. It's a 9/10, and I highly recommend it. It's one of the best things I've seen lately. Another great success for Apple TV. I've included the trailer so you can check it out.

¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well folks, that's all for today. I hope you enjoyed it.
