Currently, my country, Venezuela, is going through very delicate times, so distraction is very necessary to keep us mentally healthy. With that in mind, I decided to clear my head with a movie and oh boy, what a surprise I ended up finding. A war film where one side seeks to exterminate the communists, just what I needed. There are many anime that I really don't know and this is one of them, I understand that there is a season and they are waiting for a second one but they decided to make a short version and the result is this movie. I have to say that it is one of the best things I've seen, both for the story that personally calls my attention as in animation, it is a real gem.

En la actualidad, mi país Venezuela, está pasando por momentos bastante delicados por lo que la distracción es muy necesaria para así poder mantenernos sanos mentalmente. Teniendo en cuenta eso decido despejar mi cabeza con una película y oh vaya, que sorpresa me terminé encontrando. Un film bélico en donde un bando busca exterminar a los comunistas, justo lo que necesitaba. Hay muchos animes que la verdad desconozco y este es una de ellos, entiendo que hay una temporada y están a la espera de una segunda pero decidieron hacer una versión corta y el resultado es esta película. Tengo que decir que es de las mejores cosas que he visto, tanto por la historia que en lo personal me llama mucho la atención como en animación, es una verdadera joya.

It is more than clear that this anime is an analogy of the last moments lived in the second world war and if there is someone who is a freaky of that theme is me. Basically what we are watching is a fight/battle, between the federation (Russia) and the Empire (Germany). In the movie obviously no reference is made to the real names but it is perfectly understandable. The thing is that to the federation a group of allies arrive to help them to exterminate these of the empire commanded by Tanya von Degurechaff, this young fierce of the battlefields. Each side claims to have the reason for their attacks and hatred towards the other so that the war instead of ending what it does is to become more crude.

Está más que claro que este anime es una analogía de los últimos momentos vividos en la segunda guerra mundial y si hay alguien que es un freaky de ese tema soy yo. Basicamente lo que estamos viendo es una lucha/batalla, entre la federación (Rusia) y el Imperio (Alemania). En la película evidentemente no se hace referencia a los nombres reales pero se entiende perfectamente. La cosa es que a la federación llegan un grupo de aliados para ayudarlos a exterminar a estos del imperio comandados por Tanya von Degurechaff, esta joven fiera de los campos de batalla. Cada bando aclama tener las razón de sus ataques y odio hacia el otro por lo que la guerra en vez de acabar lo que hace es volverse más cruda.

But what is different and cool about this is that certain characters possess magic, magic that they use on the battlefield for defense and attack. This makes that the confrontations are not only at the conventional level of war in terms of artillery but thanks to magic these weapons are used and enhanced so that the damage is much larger and more extensive. Being a war story, the plot does not really matter much because it is very basic: both sides trying to eliminate each other. Perhaps the parenthesis could be that of an officer of these allied forces, Mary Sioux, who joined this force only and exclusively for revenge since her father was killed by these soldiers of the empire.

Pero lo diferente y cool que tiene esto es que ciertos personajes poseen magia, magia que usan en el campo de batalla a modo de defensa y ataque. Esto hace que los enfrentamientos no sean únicamente al nivel convencional de la guerra en cuanto a artillería sino que gracias a la magia esas armas son usadas y potenciadas para que el daño sea mucho más grande y extenso. Al ser una historia bélica la trama en realidad no importa mucho porque es muy básica: ambos bandos enfrentados tratando de eliminarse mutuamente. Quizás el paréntesis podría ser el de una oficial de estas fuerzas aliadas, Mary Sioux, quien se unió a esta fuerzas única y exclusivamente por venganza ya que su padre fue asesinado por estos soldados del imperio.

At least in this movie there is no room to breathe because there is always something going on, if it is not a confrontation, it is the moments when they plan the strategies or all the meetings that take place in the framework of a war; it is something very well done and very realistic. It's probably that many people don't like this genre, they find it boring and that's fine, I think it's not for everyone but those of us who do like it honestly find it very top to watch. I would also say that the historical context is well used in terms of cities, characters and even in the way they were personified.

A pesar de eso es una trama que entretiene muchísimo, por lo menos en esta película no hay cabida para respirar porque siempre está pasando algo, si no es un enfrentamiento, son los momentos cuando planean las estrategias o todas las reuniones que se dan en el marco de una guerra; es algo muy bien hecho y muy realista. Es probable que a muchas personas no les guste este género, lo encuentran aburrido y está bien, opino que no es para todo el mundo pero a los que si nos gusta honestamente lo encontramos muy top de ver. También decir que el contexto histórico está bien usado en cuanto a ciudades, armado de personajes y hasta en la forma en como los personificaron.

The animation is superior, the truth is that it gives a lot of pleasure to see it, incredibly fluid, good shots, a lot of mobility, the expressions of the characters are very realistic and the level of detail of many things make it stand out: the smoke, the battlefield scenes, those little things that make everything is well polished. The characters is another of the things that are very good and curious. For example the protagonist, Tanya, is a very capable young woman and good at what she does but sometimes has a tinge of madness, like lust for power that springs from time to time giving her a very appropriate personality to everything. On the other hand Mary Sioux, the vengeful one, is just that, a lot of drama and hunger to take justice into her own hands. She is just as capable as Tanya so that confrontation is interesting to enjoy.

La animación es superior, la verdad es que da mucho gusto verla, increíblemente fluida, buenas tomas, mucha movilidad, las expresiones de los personajes son muy realistas y el nivel de detalle de muchas cosas hacen que sobresalga: el humo, las escenas de campos de batalla, esas pequeñas cosas que hacen que todo esté bien pulido. Los personajes es otra de las cosas que son muy buenas y curiosas. Por ejemplo la protagonista, Tanya, es una joven muy capaz y buena en lo que hace pero a veces tiene unos tinte de locura, como ansias de poder que le brotan de vez en cuando dándole una personalidad muy adecuada a todo. Por otro lado Mary Sioux, la vengativa, es eso, mucho drama y hambre de querer hacer justicia por sus propias manos. Es igual de capaz de Tanya por lo que ese enfrentamiento es interesante de disfrutar.

The reality is that an ultra top movie, I imagine that the anime will be more detailed so I'm looking forward to see it, but the sensations of this film were and are very good. It has everything. The way it ends, the second season must be coming, I don't know if there is news but hopefully it will be soon because it leaves you wanting to see a little more. Great animation, good character development and historically it is also well done. Recommended to everyone. I leave the trailer below.

La realidad es que una película ultra top, me imagino que el anime será más detallado por lo que tenga ganas de verlo, pero las sensaciones de este film fueron y son muy buenas. Lo tiene todo. Por la manera en que termina debe de venir la segunda temporada, desconozco si hay noticias pero ojalá sea pronto porque te deja queriendo ver un poco más. Animación de lujo, buen desarrollo de personajes e históricamente también está bien lograda. Recomendada a todos. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo.

The movie sounds amazing, and I like that it has that mix of war story with magical elements; that gives it a unique touch. MAPPA's animation is always impressive! I'll put it on my list...

The movie is quite good, despite the genre it manages to hook a lot. It's not from MAPPA or at least that's what I understand hahaha but I highly recommend it.

Just by watching the trailer you can tell that it is a great work. I think it's great that the characters have magic and that they use it in a WWII inspired setting.

Definitely a movie I would watch. Thanks for sharing!

You should. That combination between magic and killing communists is very epic hahaha... the plot is very linear, zero surprises but you enjoy it a lot. And yes, the animation is pretty top notch, I think it's one of the best anime in general.

Definitely this anime has a spectacular animation. I watched the season when it premiered and even though I don't usually watch war anime, this one got me, especially for Tanya, curious character haha and the movie is brutal 😍

They show the bitterness and sadism of war, mixing touches of fantasy like that magic, it's worth watching it 👌

Tanya impressed me because out of nowhere she gets a demented look on her face that makes you go crazy and then she starts dancing with that face like she's enjoying what she's doing. Quite a curious personality really. I think the magic gives it an extra touch, it makes everything more interesting to watch

This is one of my favorite Isekai anime, so far. From the main character to the incredible sound effects and battles that this anime has makes it a masterpiece. I love the animation, too, it stands out quite well in terms of fluidity and details.

I really didn't know the anime but now that I've seen the movie I'm looking forward to see the first season, maybe it's more detailed. It is a mixture of many things and everything is very well put together so yes, I really liked the choice.
