HIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL Week 74 Second Round (ENG-ESP): "I Kissed a Girl" - Katy Perry!

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Zone Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from France. (I usually live in Cape Town, South Africa and will be back there in next week)! Welcome to Week 74 / Round 2 of the Hive Music Festival!
Let’s continue my new theme for my Hive Music Festival entries:
Sometimes as musicians we tend to take ourselves a little bit too seriously. I definitely remember doing this when I first started playing Open Mic nights and pubs when I was a younger man. Sometimes it’s important to remember that it’s okay to just have fun with our music!
One of the ways that I like to do this is to take a cheesy pop song and try and cover it on solo acoustic guitar. Will the song still be catchy and recognisable in its bare-bones form due to its chord structure, melody and hooks? Sometimes! Other times, the attempt seems to fall flat, and I then realise that what made the song stand out were probably special sounds/effects or something else to do with the production that I cannot emulate… it’s an interesting game to play!
So far, I have tackled songs by Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Tones & I and Britney Spears
Today I would like to tackle the first song that made “Katy Perry”, with her rather risqué (at the time) “I Kissed a Girl”. Apparently back in 2008, her record company was worried about whether the Bible Belt radio stations would actually play this song – which is weird when you think about it now…

Alright, as much fun as it is to play cheesy female pop songs, hopefully to demonstrate to all of you that you can play just about anything with a guitar and 4 to 5 chords, and have about as much fun as you like… I think I will only do this one more time… for Week 75, Round 3…
From Week 76 onwards, why don’t I try and be brave, and bring my cover request challenge back, and base it here on the Hive Music Festival?
About a year ago, when I was still quite new to Hive, I had a weekly post of my own initiative where I would ask for cover requests in the comments. The following week I would try to tackle a chosen song, and the person/account who requested that winning song would get 50% of the post rewards!
Should we try something like that again? If so, please post a song you’d like me to try and tackle in week 76, either by commenting on this post, or the one I put out for Week 75/Round 3. Let’s see what interesting songs you can come up with!

Continuamos con mi nuevo tema para mis entradas al Hive Music Festival:
A veces, como músicos, tendemos a tomarnos demasiado en serio. Definitivamente recuerdo haber hecho esto cuando comencé a tocar en pubs y noches de Open Mic cuando era más joven. ¡A veces es importante recordar que está bien simplemente divertirse con nuestra música!
Una de las formas en que me gusta hacer esto es tomar una canción pop cursi e intentar versionarla con un solo de guitarra acústica. ¿Seguirá siendo la canción pegadiza y reconocible en su forma básica debido a su estructura de acordes, melodía y ganchos? ¡A veces! Otras veces, el intento parece fracasar, y entonces me doy cuenta de que lo que hizo que la canción se destacara probablemente fueron sonidos/efectos especiales o algo más relacionado con la producción que no puedo emular... ¡es un juego interesante!

Aparentemente, en 2008, su compañía discográfica estaba preocupada por si las estaciones de radio Bible Belt realmente reproducirían esta canción, lo cual es extraño si lo piensas ahora...

Muy bien, por muy divertido que sea tocar canciones pop femeninas cursis, con suerte demostrarles a todos ustedes que pueden tocar casi cualquier cosa con una guitarra y de 4 a 5 acordes, y divertirse tanto como quieran... creo Sólo haré esto una vez más… para la Semana 75, Ronda 3…
A partir de la semana 76, ¿por qué no intento ser valiente y recuperar mi desafío de solicitud de portada y basarlo aquí en el Hive Music Festival?
Hace aproximadamente un año, cuando todavía era bastante nuevo en Hive, tenía una publicación semanal por iniciativa propia en la que pedía solicitudes de portada en los comentarios. La semana siguiente intentaría abordar una canción elegida y la persona/cuenta que solicitara esa canción ganadora obtendría el 50 % de las recompensas de la publicación.
¿Deberíamos intentar algo así otra vez? Si es así, publica una canción que te gustaría que intentara abordar en la semana 76, ya sea comentando esta publicación o la que publiqué para la Semana 75/Ronda 3. Veamos qué canciones interesantes se te ocurren. !

Man this is so cool! i enjoyed it a lot, i could see myself drinking some beers with a friend on some live music bar listening to something like that! very nice performance my friend, Bravo! Ya'know, i´ve also done a few acoustic pop covers in my years of posting on Hive and i found the experience pretty fun tbh. By the way my friend i want to cordially invite you to join the new musical initiative on Music Zone "Jamming Zone" week 1 is underway since saturday, you can participate doing an improvisation with guitar or any other instrument you like, i just made a demostrative post so you can check it out if you like, blessings bro!
