Province Life (Scenic Nature's View Along The Way)
October 14, 2023
I couldn't agree more when they said that "it's a privilege to live most of our lives in a province." Even though provincial life is simple, you can still live a content and happy life. You'll get a chance to switch off from technology and pay attention to your surroundings. Additionally, it's a place to connect with nature while admiring its beauty.
The splendor of nature is around even when traveling to the city. It is a never-ending, completely free nature viewing. And just staring at them is relaxing.
There are a few ways to travel from our town to the main city. We can travel either by land or water. It may be a hassle trip, but the experience is great. However, it depends on how you perceive it, bad or good. Everything has bad sides anyway. It's far way different from Hong Kong transportation. I've been used to riding trains: convenient, fast, and comfy. I just wish that our country will be as developed as others, and mode of transportation will be improved.
When we wish to avoid congested roads, we choose to travel by water. Despite the improvements to the main roads, traffic is something that has not changed. By water, however, we must travel from our village via habal-habal or motorbike taxi to the port where we would board a small ferry to the city. Another trip will be taken inside the city. In other words, it typically requires up to three different rides to get us to our goal. Kind of hassle, isn't it? Being close to nature is a benefit of living in the province, but road congestion is a problem.
But instead of feeling stressed about transportation hassles, I just wander my eyes around beautiful creatures of nature.
We call our beautiful town, Basey, which is pronounced as Basay, and the people are called Basaynon or Mabaysay which means beautiful. This is our humble town which is one of the survivors of the strongest typhoon Yolanda in Philippine history.
Meanwhile, this is the entrance to our Baranggay or village. That white building from the distance is our former store which is now closed, and below it is our house.
Look at that greenery and mountainous backdrop. There are a lot of mountains in our province, but I don't dare to hike them. Aside from the fact that it isn't safe to hike without a guide, the trails aren't good which could make one lost in the woods.
Hopefully, someday, I will be able to hike some mountains in our town.

Thank you.. I'm currently in Manila. I hope to hike that high mountain someday
I have known a lot of places in the Philippines to be blessed with beautiful landscapes. The fields and mountains look beautiful and if I had my way, living in the province would have been a great option but earning in the province can't be compared to that of the city.
Of course..wage in the city is pretty much bigger. But the living experience in the village is greater..

Opposite lang pala ang basey sa Tacloban City. It's good na may options kung pupunta sa Tacloban. I'd choose the boatbrip.
Oo sis, nkapunta kna dun?
Hi Jane, enjoy your stay in your hometown very much. It's very relaxing nature. I also hope you can find a suitable guide to go climbing. It would be a great experience. It looks beautiful out there in the distance... sky, clouds, blue mountains, water, what more could you ask for.
sending hugs
Thanks !LADY

You grew up in a beautiful place. The greenery and mountains are spectacular. I love that curvy bridge:) I'm sure you will hike the mountains there someday.
Hopefully, but definitely not alone hehe. I don't like the trails here, not visible unlike in HK mountains
I get that gotta be safe. Hiking in numbers if there is not a beaten path. I read not that long ago sometimes there really isn't much of a path and some camp along there way to the top

That's how it seems like. I spent my whole live living in an urbanized area and whenever I look at people who live in village and even coastal village, they look happier. It's like you get to fish, forage and grow your own food. I had a few brief experiences trying to live in countryside and would love to do that again whenever I am getting the chance to. You grew up in a beautiful place!
Di pa ako nakadaan ng San Juanico bridge. Huhuhu! Di ako nakadaan ng Basey. Calbayog City pa lang napuntahan ko.
