Painting a Travel Memory: The House on the Hill near Adventure Cafe in Cebu - Gouache Painting on Paper

Hi, Hive friends! Sharing with you a gouache painting I did from a photo reference of my previous travels in Cebu with my friends. To practice my painting session, I should find a reference photo from my travels.

My goal is to do plein-air painting, which means I need to bring some paints with me. A few days ago I received my portable easel and my mini portable paint palette. I will share my online purchases with you in the next few days my painting setup.

I started sketching the house and the trees.

I made changes to the colors on my painting to make it pop up. The grey skies from the reference photo made it to blue skies. The blue roof of the house, I made it to pink.

I painted yellow-green on the mountain.

For the trees, I painted/sketched them with black paint.

I started to dab the green paint on different trees. Different shades of greens.

I am so happy with the trees.

I painted the grasses on the ground using the fan brush.

And voila! Here is the final result.

Doing this, I was imagining that I was traveling painting in plein air, outside, on location.
