The lines I won't cross just to look good

She was almost talking nonstop.

"...and the only way I'm not doing it is if my mother locates exactly where I'm going to be at the exact time it's happening, which of course is not possible. If not…"

I was at a fashion exhibition with two of my close friends, Jane and Treasure. We saw the e-flyer posted on our class group chat and almost immediately, Treasure sent me a chat on WhatsApp.

"You're coming for this exhibition, right?"

My friends were like that, always looking for ways to pull me out of the personal space that I loved so much.

"Come out and see the world!" Jane would chide me each time I refused to go somewhere with them.

"I've seen enough, thank you," I would retort, "and I have so much time to see more of it. Just not now, please"

Funny enough, I barely had an interest in taking care to dress up, make elaborate hairdos, and padding my face with makeup for any event. It had taken self-control at the previous events I attended not to stand up and leave halfway through the show. Not because they weren't interesting, but because I cherished the comfort of lying in my bed and typing away at my laptop more than doing anything else.

The girl sitting beside us was still chatting away without restraint. Coincidentally, she was a queen currently in my department so she sat at the high table with us.

"But if you go ahead to do these things even after your mother has warned you, wouldn't she be upset when she sees you on them?" I heard Treasure ask.

A young lady putting on an attire made from the traveling bags referred to as ghana-must-go, walked on the runway, causing me to hear only fragments of what the queen was saying.

"...will she beat me?...my mother loves to overreact…. after all, it's just talk she will talk…."

At this point, I had to turn to Treasure.

"Please, you people should allow me to watch this show in peace or else I'm returning to my house." Jane nearly toppled over with laughter. She too had been enduring the annoying conversation and was looking for a way to make it end.

Treasure flickered her lashes at me but she knew I didn't make empty threats when it came to situations like that so she kept quiet and only nodded or shook her head when the queen tried to indulge her in further conversations.

When it was obvious that the exhibition had come to an end, Treasure, Jane and I hurried out of the hall in order not to come across other people we knew.

We flagged down a taxi and asked him to take us straight to my house.

"What were you and that Deborah girl even talking about?" Jane asked on our way home.

She saw a tattoo on one of the designer's arms and said she was also going to do a tattoo immediately she was done with school

"Well, having a tattoo is quite expensive, I would rather use the money to eat"

I couldn't control the laughter that burst out of me when I heard that. We all knew Treasure was a glutton, never missing an opportunity to eat even when she was not hungry.

"Your own problem in life is food," Jane was chiding her, I was still trying to put myself together as they exchanged words.

"Anyway, no matter how cheap a tattoo is, I cannot find myself doing it. Even if I had all the money in the world" Jane protested strongly.

"Why? You're the one who claims to be the most wild amongst us" Treasure eyed her.

"It has no known advantage. I'll go with you on using the money to eat instead" We all laughed again.

"What about you?" Treasure poked my arm. "What's that thing you would rather not do even if you had all the money?"

Different thoughts were running through my mind at the same time, it seemed like there were so many of them already but I tried to settle for the most realistic one.

"This whole skin refurbishing that people do nowadays" They exchanged confused looks but I was not done talking. "The butt lifts, skin glow drips, injections for fuller body parts, and the likes…"

"Ohhhh!" They exclaimed, agreeing over each other's words that they wouldn't attempt it.

"But if there's a surgery to get taller, I think you should attempt it…" Treasure had a rueful smile on her face as she said that to me. I was twisting her ear before she could complete the statement, causing her to yelp like a hurt puppy. Everyone in the taxi, including the driver was now roaring with uncontrollable laughter.

You three are just so fun with your conversation. I think I rather spend my money on food as well instead on tattoos hahaha, I guess Treasure is not the only foodie here !LOL

I know my wife loves it when I tickle her
She laughs while I'm tickling and is angry at me when I stop.

Lol... If this is a Movie, it will surely hit the box office by surprise. The dynamics of each of the names characters is unique in their own way.

I've seen a couple of clips about the whole skin-refreshing stuff. The trend is captivating a lot of people. Haha. It's good to know what you think about that.

Thanks so much for joining us in their edition of the challenge.

🤣🤣🤣 maybe it was intended or not. The comic relief was everywhere as I read. This is an interesting way to put up your thoughts toward something you'll never do no matter how rich you get, and I agree with you, sis.

All those things are something I will never endanger my life to do. But about the tall aspect, I haven't seen you before but I think your friends are right 😄.
