Selfless to a fault.

Participating in this week contest edition I am sharing with us a story of a close friend who I term a hero. This friend of mine, we were lucky to cross paths years ago. At first I was not sure he had some interesting qualities because his appearance doesn't look like one who should be so selfless. I guess I judge him through his appearance, but I was totally wrong. On getting to know him, I started seeing hidden qualities I have never seen in anyone else. There was a day he called me to accompany him to the market, seeing I also had some stuffs to buy in the market I accepted. On reaching the market he said he wants to buy a pair of shoes, I said okay and asked for the kind of shoes he said cover shoes. we located the shop for cover shoes.

Getting to the shop he started picking several shoes. I wondered why he took different shoes and asked him, he told me it was for one of his church member. Explaining further because I had other questions to ask, like why did you not ask for his size of shoes? he said it's a surprise. He went further to tell me that there's a program in church on Sunday and the member is not thinking of going to church because he doesn't have a cover shoes. I became so astonished and speechless, but I said to myself his kinds are rare. This is his senior, he is just a student and can squeeze some money to care for someone. It didn't end here.

There was a semester one of our course mate had financial issues, attending lectures was a problem for that our course mate. When this my friend realized the issue if this our course mate. He took it upon himself to sponsor this our course mate for a semester. He was buying manuals for himself and that our course mates. He took food stuffs from his parents house to give this course mate. Another surprising thing with him was he never complained, he got me to understand that he finds joy in helping others. At the end of the semester this our course mate was able to write exams and did so well when the results came out.

It got to a point he borrowed to help. Sometimes he will call me and say I should send money to a particular account he will pay. I never hesitated because I tried letting him understand most times that he doesn't have to help to his own detriment but he insisted and said he knows what he is doing.
Today the success of most people around him can be traced to him. He is a saviour in disguise. The more he helps the more his succeeds. I see him as a hero to many.

Being selfless requires courage, not waiting till abound, the little you have can save life's.
