We ate way too much at Taman Selera Harmoni

During my trip to Sibu (my hometown) earlier this year on the month of March, parents brought us to a famous night eatery. It is well-known at Sibu due to being the biggest halal food court for our Muslim friends. And it comprises of approximately 47 local stalls selling varieties of food.
It was a good change for us to a Malay food court after few days on Chinese food.
Taman Selera Harmoni
It is an open-air food court, a huge place with many chairs and tables. Being naturally ventilated and also with a lot of fans, it was a comfortable place for dining. I even saw some students sitting together doing their school work while chitchatting and drinking.
We took time to walk to every stall to see which one more was more suitable for us. As soon as we found one, we sat down nearby it. Immediately, we were served by a waitress with two menus. Usually, we would be served by the person-in-charge nearby, and they were competing for business too. We asked whether could we order from other stalls, the waitress replied, "Of course, feel free."
She then informed us that she was from the stall called Usu Imoi Selera but her family members also opened the stalls nearby called Satay Art 696.
Usu Imoi Selera
We had a looked at the two menus and these were what we ordered.
Grilled chicken chop
My son was a fan of Western food. So he immediately spotted grilled chicken chop. He was happy with his food, the chicken chop was delicious, properly grilled with his favourite black pepper chicken sauce. It came with some fries, coleslaw and baked beans. Yummy!
Mee Daging Bandung
My father ordered a noodle dish called 'mee daging Bandung'. It was a traditional dish from Johor, usually cooked using yellow noodle and with thick savoury broth with added eggs. My father chose beef as the protein, and oh my, the beef slices were so soft and succulent tender. We love it. This dish was shared among my parents and me.
Mee = Noodle
Daging = beef
Mee Hoon Goreng
My mother was indecisive what to eat, so she said she simply pointed to anything on the list. Haha. It was 'mee hoon goreng' meaning fried rice vermicelli. It was not the most delicious fried rice vermicelli we had eaten but it had its own distinctive taste. Not much meat in there, basically, a lot of the carbs, and just some vegetables and meat. Nevertheless, the taste was good.
Turmeric Chicken, Fried Egg & Omelette
I ordered this one for my youngest son. I knew he could not finish the whole portion and it was fine because my eldest son could share with him. Yes, after finishing the chicken chop, the eldest son still had some space for more food. He ate more food when at Sibu.
This was the best food of the night here. The turmeric chicken was different from the one we had from Kuala Lumpur. This one was not deep fried, but being stir-fried with turmeric and onions and leek. It was so flavourful and of course, delicious. I ordered an omelette and two fried eggs for added dish for myself and husband too.
Husband was interested in some satay, so he walked to the stall to order some. Satay is a three-piece-cubemeat on stick, marinated and grilled on charcoal.
Satay Art 696
This stall, specialised in satay. Just look at all the satay sticks displayed on the table. Once customer placed his or her order, then the number of satay would be taken out for grilling. Husband ordered 10 sticks of chicken satay and 10 sticks of beef satay to be shared among all. Overall, it was delicious, but we still prefer the ones we had at KL. Reason being, the satay here did not come with the usual peanut savory sauce but just some curry sauce.
Mee Goreng
Husband also walked to the left end of the food court to order a plate of Indian fried yellow noodles, the mamak style. It was delicious too, with enough wok-hey kind of fried noodle. It had some tofu and tomatoes and some meat in the noodles.
Lamb Soup
Husband then walked to another right end and found a shop selling all kinds of soup. He ordered a lamb soup. This was the most expensive one for the night. Haha. But it was so so good. The soup was so lamb-y flavourful and the meat was so soft, it was almost falling off the bones.
Drinks
We ordered two 'teh tarik lawa', our popular chilling drink. It had bubbles on top due to being pulled from one container to another container. It was a nice hot tea. The boys shared a carrot juice. Refreshing!!!
I think I was the lucky one that night, I got to try all the food ordered by everyone. Somehow, everyone offered me their food. At the end of the dinner, I felt like I ate too much, perhaps too much cards and I was so, so sleepy. Luckily, I did not order anything for myself, knowing my parents and husband would offer me their food and my son would not be able to finish his food. And I would eat all the leftovers. Oh yes, I did order a fried egg for myself!

What an interesting place to eat! I can't imagine having so many choices so close together. It's nice you could each order something different and then share.
Yeah you really ate much
