Super Sumptuous Lunch by Aunt!

Saturday — time to visit my Aunt!

My tuition got postponed to Sunday, so Saturday was more free to slow down a bit. We reached Aunt's house earlier after the boys had their haircut. It was really nice to go slow and not in a rush. I wish everyday was like that... (in my dream)

Our Sumptuous Lunch

It was another sumptuous lunch prepared by Aunt. She cooked three dishes for us: chicken, pork and prawns. Felt so blessed!

Herbal Chicken!

She called it black chicken. She was worried we wouldn't like the herbal taste but oh my, we loved it. Surprisingly, the boys loved it too. She told me in Hakka language on the 4 herbs but I just couldn't catch it. Some roots and some bark. Anyway, this dish was superb — with the flavourful herbal gravy — a bit of bitterness plus a bit of natural sweetness. She said the herbs helped to nourish lungs, liver and kidneys. Ooh-la-la!

Pork with sweet preserved vegetables and potatoes!

She couldn't find salty preserved vegetables and bought sweet preserved vegetables instead and another oh my, it was even better when the pork slices were stir fried with sweet preserved vegetables. My mum cooked the same way too, but using salty preserved vegetables. Gonna tell my mum to use sweet one next time. She added some pork belly slices too knowing the youngest boy loved the fat part.

Prawns with long beans and beancurd!

She said all the leafy vegetables at market were not looking great. So she bought French beans. And a lot of fresh juicy prawns. Just a basic stir fry with garlic and oyster sauce but resulted in super amazing flavors due to the prawns. Delicious!

Thoroughly enjoying my lunch!

We were thoroughly enjoying the lunch when the youngest son suddenly asked the Aunt how she cut the potatoes into wriggly shape. My Aunt was thrilled by the questions because usually children just did not bother and just ate. So she was excited to show the boy the special knife.

Explaining... Explaining.. Explaining...

She even mentioned next time she will make jelly for them and will cut with this knife too!

After lunch, we were all relaxed and happily chatting while eating some sweets. Aunt was praising them on their new haircut but did mention the eldest son's hair still very long. Haha. Oh well, he is 12 years old now and specifically mentioned to the barber to just trim neat and not cut short. We had such great time with Aunt, always!

This was how they looked like after haircut!

Since I did mention haircut, let me just end this with some before-haircut looks!

I can repeat thousands time how blessed we are because every Saturday, Aunt will cook more for us to bring back extra for our dinner too. She said she wanted to do that to keep her active, as well as, it is due to my husband did give her monthly allowance, so she wants to cook something nice for us, although she doesn't need to. We love her a lot!

May she be blessed with good health and strength, long life to see my eldest son got married. She said that's her wish!
