LOVING WHAT YOU SEE - LOH CONTEST 122 (ENG-ESP)
It's really funny how we place so much value on what doesn't really matter in the end but then I think it's all part of what we are made up of as humans, we easily get attracted to things that seem pleasing to our eyes and that's why sometimes I do wonder why some people don't like flowers, hehe, just wondering. Happy Sunday and a new week to you my beloved reader, I'm so glad you have taken your time to stop by to share in my little knowledge for this week's ladies of hive question which is highlighted below 👇
Why do you think society places such a high value on beauty
when it serves no functional purpose?
Hence my little introduction!!!
Moving forward on my response to the topic, I would love to ask you a question that you should just answer to yourself or at the comment section if you want, "is there anything you see as beautiful and still want to go for the other that doesn't look appealing? For me, the answer is no on a basic level but then as time went by, I realized I started seeing beyond what I see, hehe yes you read that right. Like they say, "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" and "one man's food is another man's poison". So with that it is clear that making judgments based on what we see as individuals is a very easy way to make wrong conclusions.
But mind you, we all or most of us love things that are appealing to our eyes and it is not out of place at all. According to the question asked by our questionnaire for this week @justbekindtoday, why do I think the society place more values on beauty even when it has no functional purpose? The answer is simple, it's just because we love things that are appealing to us! But the good thing is, as time goes by, people keep getting the reason not to base their hopes and judgments on beauty but more on character and I think that's an improvement even though there are still many trying to adjust to the bitter truth.
If there is any other reason I think the society values beauty it will be because of lack of knowledge. The fact is no one will want to place more value on something that doesn't even count if they know it does not count in the end. What I mean is, people only place values on what they know they have something to benefit from although there are exceptions but on a norm that is how it works or should I say, that is how it should be. Having a good knowledge of seeing things and people beyond how beautiful they are mostly physically, will help us in making a whole lot of good choices.
The truth is, beauty can be really deceiving sometimes especially if it's based on what we see outwardly which is what the society see most times. And this is one of the major reasons why people easily misjudge also, I've been there so I know. We all should know that true beauty lies in knowing something or someone beside their outward appearance and if there is need for any adjustments, we can help out. Just like our Gold we use for so many things today, the raw material of gold is so dirty but after refining it, it becomes the beauty we see but most times we do not even care at all of what it had to go through to be such a beauty.

Avanzando en mi respuesta al tema, me encantaría hacerte una pregunta que deberías responderte a ti mismo o en la sección de comentarios si quieres, "¿hay algo que veas tan hermoso y aún quieras ir por el otro ¿Eso no se ve atractivo? Para mí, la respuesta es no en un nivel básico, pero luego, con el paso del tiempo, me di cuenta de que comencé a ver más allá de lo que veo, jejeje, sí, leíste bien. Como dicen, "la belleza está en los ojos del espectador" y "la comida de un hombre es el veneno de otro" Entonces, con eso está claro que hacer juicios basados en lo que vemos como individuos es una manera muy fácil de sacar conclusiones erróneas.
Pero fíjate, todos o la mayoría de nosotros amamos las cosas que son atractivas para nuestros ojos y no están fuera de lugar en absoluto. Según la pregunta de nuestro cuestionario de esta semana @justbekindtoday, ¿Por qué creo que la sociedad le da más valor a la belleza incluso cuando no tiene un propósito funcional? La respuesta es simple, es solo porque amamos las cosas que son atrayéndonos! Pero lo bueno es que, a medida que pasa el tiempo, la gente sigue encontrando la razón para no basar sus esperanzas y juicios en la belleza sino más en el carácter y creo que eso es una mejora, aunque todavía hay muchos que intentan adaptarse a la amarga verdad.
Si hay alguna otra razón por la que creo que la sociedad valora la belleza, será por falta de conocimiento. El hecho es que nadie querrá dar más valor a algo que ni siquiera cuenta si saben que al final no cuenta. Lo que quiero decir es que las personas solo valoran lo que saben que tienen algo de lo que beneficiarse, aunque hay excepciones, pero en una norma, así es como funciona o debería decir, así es como debería ser. Tener un buen conocimiento de cómo ver las cosas y las personas más allá de lo hermosas que son en su mayoría físicamente, nos ayudará a tomar muchas buenas decisiones.
La verdad es que la belleza puede ser realmente engañosa a veces, especialmente si se basa en lo que vemos exteriormente, que es lo que la sociedad ve la mayoría de las veces. Y esta es una de las principales razones por las que la gente también juzga mal fácilmente, he estado allí, así que lo sé. Todos debemos saber que la verdadera belleza radica en conocer algo o alguien además de su apariencia externa y, si es necesario realizar algún ajuste, podemos ayudarlo. Al igual que nuestro oro que usamos para muchas cosas hoy en día, la materia prima del oro está muy sucia, pero después de refinarlo, se convierte en la belleza que vemos, pero la mayoría de las veces ni siquiera nos importa lo que tuvo que pasar para ser tal belleza.

I agree. Many actually don't understand the essence of true beauty. And like I tell myself, it depends on how you see it. The truth is, beauty takes many forms and sometimes, it gets really complicated. The natural response for any human is to take the easy way out. Which is living by sight.

Hello @hopestylist. So many truths you expound upon above. I love it when you say:
This is especially true since flowers are so beautiful to look at. But then I think that if all you have to do is look at them once they're fully blossomed, then it's fine. When you have to actually dig a bit deeper and take care of them or wait until they bloom, then interest wanes. What bulk is breathtaking? lololol.
Also, I love it when you say about eating based on looks compared to poison and the outside being deceiving. It reminds me of an adage I used to hear, "What looks good to you, may not be good for you." Lots of men get caught up in that scenario.

Hahaha, you have said it all, the flower looks so beautiful at it's bloom but when it wanes off, nobody will want to be the one looking at it anymore, hehe, that's how life is, we want what looks beautiful in our eyes and once it's not we looking good we discard it.

Es triste nuestra realidad, la sociedad moderna esta inmersa en unos estándares basado en la belleza, juzgan a la personas como se ve y no por lo que es, y es un error garrafal, pues la belleza es como la flor del campo, nace muy hermosa pero al salir el sol marchita su belleza y al pasar el tiempo lo mismo pasa en aquella personas donde solo importa la imagen o el físico, pero lo que realmente debe ser valorado como una joya es tu interior, es más válioso que una joya, gracias por compartir tu opinión.

Before real pure beauty is obtained, and I'm not talking about physical looks or features, there is usually work to be done. And this work should be appreciated.
The truth of the matter is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Meaning beauty is what you think it is, which in the grand scheme of things, is not general.

I won't deny the fact that I place so much value on beauty but not just the physical feature of whatever it is. Character is beauty, it doesn't have to be about the looks and color of things.
