LITTLE TIPS ON HOW TO TRAIN A CHILD

avatar

I actually laughed at myself when I gave that title to my post because I know you might be thinking what I have to say when I haven't even given birth to a child. You see that's one funny thing about life, sometimes we don't have to go through some things before we get the knowledge of them. But most people hold the belief that experience is the best teacher but then I will prefer to learn from the experiences of others instead. That aside, I do have a little something to share to help all the amazing mothers/parents in training up their child or children as the case may be.

As a child, I always loved babies, I enjoyed caring for them and playing with them and over time I've seen a lot of children and they all have one thing in common, they easily learn things that are not good for them. The painful part is some parents don't even care about it, while few do. Children are mostly quick learners especially from the age of 2-10 years old, so as parents you have to be very conscious of whatever you do in their presence and also what they are exposed to.

As children grow older, they tend to mimic certain behaviors they've seen, say words they've heard and act based on what they feel. As a mother you must have noticed all of these things but you still don't do anything about it because you are scared of making your child sad or angry with you. Well, that's understandable but do you know that it might affect both you and your child later if the things they learn at that age is not something good?

Well that's one of the main reasons for this post. I will be sharing some few things that I think will help you give your child the best training and not really offend them.

20220723_162034_0000.png
The first tip I will give is, be ATTENTIVE!!!. As parents without the ability to be attentive, then there is a big problem as children can be very cunning especially when they know they might not be doing the right thing. The place I live, there is this little baby girl, she looks so innocent but she can be really destructive when you take your eyes off her for just few seconds and when you ask her why she did that, she will want to run away. Note, she is just a year+ but she already knows she did something wrong. So as a mother, you have to be very attentive, not only in the aspect of your child's health but in every aspect.

The second tip is, be INTENTIONAL!!!. Be intentional about everything you do in the presence of your child. There are some behaviors, words and things you do and say that you have to let go of because it's just a matter of time before your child starts saying and doing those things. Take out time to spell out the mistakes of your child to him or her and also do well to appreciate them when they do something as they should, that way they will understand that there are some things that they shouldn't indulge in even when you are not watching.

The third tip is, always make sure to tell them the reason for your actions. As a parent, there are times when we discipline our children for something but most times we refuse to tell them why they were discipline because we carelessly assume they know the reason why. Well, in some cases they might be aware but then still let them know why and if possible tell them the right thing they should have done. In a case when you discipline a child without telling them the reason why or telling them the right thing they should have done, they can easily end up making the same mistake again and you might just end up disciplining them again.

Although there are cases when you give them the reasons for disciplining them but they still end up making the same mistakes, what you should try to do is sit them down and in love asked them the reason for their actions. Remember, at first you were the one who told them how to act but now, they will be the one to do so and that way you can know how to advise them and help them overcome that challenge. And note, it might take time so learn to be patient with them for some time depending on their efforts to get it right.

The last tip I will add is, ask for your child's opinion once in a while or when necessary. I've said this before in my previous posts, your child is also human too and that means they have the ability to also think and make contributions sometimes. That way, they will feel carried along and they can easily relate with you without being scared. Asking for their opinions on things will make them know they can be very free with you.

These are some little things I've learned so far from parents and also from people in general and I feel it will help any open-minded parents. As you have noticed, these tips are limited because I want to give room to you to make your contributions to the topic so I can learn more also from you. So don't hesitate to share your thoughts and comments with me, it is highly appreciated and valued.

Until next time, stay AWESOME!!!

It's fun seeing you write this topic... I was wondering if I was mistaken or what 😂.

It's still nice sha, I guess you mean the methods you will adopt when you finally have kids.

Great advices I must say... Asking for the child's opinion and Hearing the child our should not be neglected at all.
Thanks for sharing

If you show this article to your mother, she might reply like " One child sharing tips to how to train a child😂😂"

All the points you shared here are valid and important also but have you thought that Our parents also crossed our age and they might think about it like you are thinking but when it comes to time their opinion changes. I think we are still unable to see everything from the point of view of our parents otherwise who knows your opinion would be different.

I totally understand the point you are driving at but then if I still make the same mistakes of not putting all of these things into consideration when I become a parent, then I'm neither doing myself well nor my child. This is mostly part of the reasons we find that once some children are no longer with their parents, they become something else because they didn't put some of these things into consideration even when they know it's the right thing to do but I doubt if most parents know this because if they do they will put most of them will put them to action.

And yes, I'm sure I might think more differently when I get to that stage but that doesn't change what is right does it?

Thank you so much for stopping by and pointing this out, now I will have to keep grooming myself to do the right thing not just as a mother but as human. I believe the more we learn from the mistakes of others, the better we become and I'm hoping I keep learning from the mistakes of others and also their strengths and become even better when I get to that stage. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.

Yes,it's the matter. I think most of us forget about the current feeling of us when they become parents. I think if they try to understand the situation of a child then it would be better for everyone.

I think changing the mind set will take time maybe take time until upcoming few generations. Let's see what happening next 😂. I will remind you if you have done anything wrong with your child and share it here means in hive.

I am not saying against you. I am saying what used to happen in the previous time.. So nothing to worry. Chill..😂.

It is totally fine to tell me when I do something wrong with training my child, that will even help me more so it's totally welcomed and appreciated. In fact that is what I want when I finally become a parent because that will help both myself, my child and the world at large, so you will actually be doing us a favor if you do so 🥰.

I know you are not against me, I totally understand, I've thought about these things too and I can relate. But this is me daring myself to get it right when the time comes.

Parenting is a great stage in life and I urge people never to attempt it without proper preparedness.

It's awesome you have started acquiring knowledge about that stage even though you aren't there yet. You have explained very important points for many parents across the world.

A lot of things need to be checked, we must ensure that we do things that would help our kids become great and role models to other kids around.

I totally agree with you on this, it's a big problem when we give birth to children when we are not prepared, although some later adjust but then it's just too risky.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I really do hope to keep learning to become a better parent because that's what every child deserves and the best way out is to learn to become a better parent before even actually becoming one.

When you said that you liked kids from childhood, I just remembered all the times I used to make a baby with a wrapper 😂😂

Are you sure that there's no baby somewhere😶‍🌫️ these tips are actually very nice tips. I like the part where you said parents should be intentional and should seek their kids opinions from time to time.

These tips have been imprinted in my heart and I'd do well to use them in the future 😅✨

Hahaha, I remember doing that too, I normally make use of my cardigan, hehe.

I'm happy you find the tips good, I'm actually writing these things for myself too so as to help me when I get to that stage because sometimes life can be overwhelming and we forget these things.

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your contribution dear, it's always a great pleasure having you around.

Spot on, darling 🔥🔥🔥
You have spoken the truth and that is it. I don't believe in you being something before you can advise others about it. At least we have seen and heard many experiences, so we have the right to share tips like this.

As parents, being intentional and attentive are very important. Parents may think they are doing the right thing for them but in another case, it is different. Children are good at emulating at a very tender age and it is that stage they can learn and unlearn things when parents guide them.

My parents would always tell us why they beat us when we do something wrong. They taught us how to always admit we are wrong and knowing that we'd get punished for doing the wrong things and these tips helped us today.

Thanks for sharing. I came through #dreemport

Attention...being attentive to them... That's a major one and I am glad you made it the first... Giving attention to them is the first and right step. Makes a lot of things easier to build on.
