In our previous lesson, we saw that in the Old Testament, that is the first 39 books of the Bible, an animal sacrifice had to took place to pay for the sins of God's people. You can read all about it in the post below.

In the New Testament of the Bible, that is the last 27 books of the Bible we will see that God made another provision for our sins.

It all starts with the birth of Jesus. Jesus is God's son who He sent to earth to be the offer for our sins, to conquer death, so that we can have eternal life.

The Bible tells us all about it. We read in
John 3:16 "God loved the people in the world so much that he gave his one and only Son on their behalf. So, as a result, everyone who believes in the Son will not die. Instead, they will live for ever with God.’"

Jesus was raised by Mary and Joseph like a normal kid, although they knew that He was very special as Mary knew that He did not came from a natural father but from God.

When Jesus was 12 years old, he went to the temple for Passover, that was the once a year offering of a lamb for the people's sins. On their way back Joseph and Mary saw that Jesus was not with them. They went back to Jerusalem to search for him.

Let's read from the Easy Bible what happened next.

After three days, they found him in God's Great House. He was sitting there among the teachers. He was listening to what they were saying. He was also asking them questions. Everyone who heard Jesus was very surprised. He understood so many things and he could answer difficult questions. When his parents saw him there, they were also very surprised. His mother said to him, ‘My son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have looked everywhere for you. We have had a lot of troubles in our mind.’ Jesus answered them, ‘You should not really have had to look for me. I must be doing what my Father wants me to do. Really, you should have known that.’ But they did not really understand what he was saying to them.

This was the first time that Jesus spoke to his earthly parents about God, his Heavenly Father. The people in the temple were also surprised that Jesus knew so much of the scriptures, that he was so clever and could answer all their difficult questions.
Jesus went back to Nazareth and was an obedient boy, he listened to his parents.

Next time we will see what happened when Jesus grew up.

Thank you for reading. May you be blessed❣️
