What If Your Alarm Could Speak?

What If Your Alarm Could Speak?

My alarm is like the self critical voice in my head. It's saying "lazy" a handful of times. It's saying "get up" even more times.

Consider this...

If alarms could talk, I believe a lot of us would have alarms that reflect our inner monologue. The voices in our head that push us forward. That makes us more capable. That would be what we hear on our alarms. With their tiny faces and their little numbers displayed with critical urgency. Alarms would bark orders at us to let us know when to move on to the next task so as not to sabotage our productivity.

That voice for me would be the voice of a teacher. A teacher who has her glasses perched on the bridge of her nose. She is analytical, critical and a snub. Most importantly, she hates her pupil. Me. She barks commands and disapproval with a force that is both motivating and suffocating.

Of course, on both sides of this inner monologue is my consciousness. It's still one person, undivided. However, what motivates a person says a lot about how fulfilled and healed they are. I believe I am not fully healed and for that reason, my internal dailogue is toxic. The awareness of this keeps me working on my habitual thoughts and poisonous tendencies.
Naturally, the alarms of most successful people would say things like "it's another day to create the life you want", because they have reached a level of self consciousness and self acceptance that has permitted them to achieve everything they want in their lives.

If your alarm could speak, what would it say to you?
I think that's a good place to start, not just with your morning routines, but with figuring out how toxic or helpful your internal monologue is. Is your motivation poisoned with self loathing? Self deprecation? Greed? Envy? Impatience with yourself? Low self esteem? Low self worth? Are you self destructive? Prone to self sabotage? Mediocrity? Ingratitude?

This is a vital step in figuring out what the vices that you employ best against yourself are. This is a path of self healing and deep acknowledgement of the self. As with anything of this nature, you do not want to rush the answers. You need to think deeply, feel deeply and sit in a contemplative state for long enough that the answers make themselves known.

In your free time, sit with your thoughts. Write them down on a piece of paper. Here are some clues as to what this question can help you figure out. Are your reasons for wanting to get up and work genuinely helpful to you? Is there any part of your mind that actively works against your success? Are your habits allowing for fulfilling rest?

Your alarm speaking might be an impossible thing or an advancement in technology that is yet to be largely adapted, but this question is so useful for self evaluation.

I believe everyone should answer it. Especially you!

Your clock speaking seems to be a kind one. It'll speak the kind of words that will make you look deeply into your soul just like you've made mention here;

A teacher who has her glasses perched on the bridge of her nose...
