Making New Friends

In the grand tapestry of life, friendships form the vibrant threads that add color, warmth, and texture to our existence. The art of making new friends is a dance of connection, shared interests, and mutual respect. As I reflect on my journey of forging new bonds, a particularly memorable experience comes to mind—my attendance at the Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2023.

The Catalyst for Connection

It was there, amidst the buzz of business and innovation, that I found myself not just as a representative of Hive but as a participant in the timeless ritual of making new friends. The event itself was a melting pot of like-minded individuals, a fertile ground for the seeds of friendship to sprout.

Approaching New Horizons

When initiating a new friendship, my compass is guided by shared interests and passions. The conference was a beacon, attracting those with a keen interest in business and technology. Yet, it was in the nuanced conversations, the exchange of ideas and dreams, where the real connections were forged. I often find that a simple, genuine inquiry—perhaps about a familiar logo on a shirt or the story behind a company—can unravel the threads of a meaningful conversation.

Icebreakers and First Impressions

Breaking the ice can sometimes feel like navigating a frozen lake, uncertain of where the thin ice lies. My strategy? A blend of curiosity and genuine interest. A comment on something as simple as their attire can spark a conversation, transforming the unfamiliar into the familiar.

The Challenge of Shyness

Admittedly, my journey hasn't been devoid of challenges. Shyness often loomed like a shadow, threatening to eclipse the opportunity for new connections. Yet, it's in the acknowledgment of this vulnerability that genuine connections find their footing.

The Essence of Quality Friendships

As the dust of the conference settled, the question of balancing the quantity and quality of friendships emerged. For me, the depth of connection outweighs the breadth. Quality friendships, like those I've found within the MCGI church community, are treasures. They are the kind of friends you can rely on, the ones who stand by you in times of need.

Navigating Differences

Differences and conflicts are inevitable in any relationship. It's in the navigation of these turbulent waters that friendships are tested and strengthened. The key lies in open communication, empathy, and a shared commitment to understanding.

A Word of Wisdom

For those finding it challenging to make new friends, I turn to the timeless wisdom of the scriptures. Proverbs 27:10 reminds us, "Do not forsake your own friend or your father's friend, nor go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity; better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away." It's a call to cherish and nurture the friendships we have, recognizing their value not just in times of joy but also in moments of adversity.

In Conclusion

Making new friends, particularly in settings that already align with our interests, offers a canvas for meaningful connections. It's about finding common ground, embracing vulnerabilities, and valuing the quality of connections over sheer quantity. As we journey through life, let us remain open to the new friendships that await, for they hold the potential to enrich our lives in ways we might never have imagined.

I discovered Hive back in 2017 when I was doing my research. My goal on Hive is I want to use the stake power up to be able to help the community. I prayed to God to help me to be able to become a cheerful giver to anyone who is lacking like food, medicine, and livelihood. Hope you can follow my journey

Oh, yes. Simple genuine compliments can spark conversations. And more importantly, being interested in the other person can bring deeper connections.

I wonder where you are on the photo of MCGI members. My guess is that you're on the far right. Am I correct?

Having a good plot for friendship is very vital because when people who don't think the same line with us we will have a lot of lacunas in life pursuit. There are people who are shy in terms of going out for why they want but they make good friends too.

I just love your submission in terms of making friends, same mindset....

I think it is very difficult to find good friends. But if someone is your best friend then we should respect him. I am very sensitive about friends. 🙂

You have saved a beautiful memory by creating a picture with your numerous friends❤️
