Typhoon Aftermath: Flu Epidemic

Hello my Dear Asean Hive, greetings from the Philippines.

Today I am so thankful that power is finally restored and we can now go back to our normal lives, especially for me as a WFH , ESL Teacher. Sadly, because of almost 3 weeks of not having electricity in our area, and with the humid weather, there is an on going Flu Pandemic, I'm not sure if it is for the whole province, but majority of people in our neighborhood are down with a flu, including some of my family members 😞😪, hopefully I won't catch it too as i still have to recover and work and make out for the days I missed on work.

During one of my classes, one of my teenager student mentioned this cough syrup that I also noticed when I visited a local Chinese Pharmacy, because I had to buy the famous "Hong Thai" Inhaler 😅 my student said i should give this cough syrup a try, because it works really well for them, and even during covid pandemic, so today, when i went to the supermarket to get some groceries, I dropped by in the Pharmacy, it's name is "Hua Kong" and they offer a wide variety of Chinese Herbal Medicine, I bought this cough syrup and the Pharmacist told me, it is better taken with warm water, and then, if the coughing is bad, she also offered these candies to soothe the throat, so i bought it too, I bought the bigger one, the Pharmacist said it can be mixed with tea as a sweetener too, to strengthen the immune system and I was so amazed.

300mL variant. The consistency is very thick because it has honey, and loquat which is actually very effective for cough and gives relief to sore throat, good thing the label behind the bottle has the lists of ingredients in English.

the formula of the candy is similar to the syrup, it's like a candied/hard/dry version

and of course, I still bought the Drugstore/Western medicine which are BioFlu, Flumucil Tablet (to be diluted on water) and Alaxan for the body pain, I also bought Salbutamol tablet for difficulty in breathing , just in case the herbal medicine don't work

My Mom and Dad immediately tried the cough syrup and Lo and behold, their cough became less frequent, they told me their sinuses were clearing and their sense of smell came back, it was such a relief,😮‍💨 they can now sleep and recover without interruptions because of coughing, body ache and stuffy nose.

I'm so thankful for this medicine, and not only that, I think eating healthy and getting much rest (because there isn't any electricity, we'd sleep earlier) has contributed so their body was able to fight the virus, as much as possible, I don't really want my parents, especially my Mother to have a cold, because of their weak immune system, it usually takes a month for them to recover, during this typhoon I had so much realization, and even now that power is back, we would like to maintain this kind of routine of less gadgets, earlier bedtime and healthier meals, indeed, health is wealth, and always remember that "𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒆".

I want to share a photo of my parents while taking their afternoon naps, despite the sickness, they still joke with each other, also, we are the ones who wear the masks 😅, they said they can't breathe well, so they don't want to wear it.
