Sunset madness at the biggest beach of the Netherlands!

The beaches of the province of Zealand in the Netherlands are very popular by tourists! most popular by German tourists and Dutch it self! Many camping's can be found along the big en wide beaches. The beach is so wide because it protects the land from the sea! They pump upp the sand miles away from the shore and bring it to land by big ships ore pipes! There the tide, ocean currents and the wind divide the sand along the coastline! The wind blows the sand up and sand dunes are growing bigger and new dunes are formed! That's the way the Netherlands is protected by the sea!

You can walk for miles and miles along the coast and turn back tough the dunes. But not all dunes are open for the public. That's because it's protected nature. Many plants and grasses are there to keep the sand in place! if you walk over them they die and the sand is blown away. And with half of the Netherlands below sea level we do need those dunes!

The grasses and the shapes of the sand are very cool in landscape photography. They form a nice foreground!

the beaches are off limits for cars except lifeguards and animal rescue. These are tracks from animal rescue, they were on there way to a seal pup who has lost here mother. the pup is brought to the sea shelters and when she is fully grown put back to nature. This couple is the same as the first picture, i asked them if they could walk towards the sun and form these shadows.

Fun fact, that not many people know, the name of the country New Zealand if from the name of this province! Zeeland! The Dutch explorer Abel Tasman named the Country when he was the first person from the west to set foot on land there! Well not that of fun fact, the where killers and killed many indigenous people...
