RE: What Was The First Album You Owned?

My first album was a Scorpions cassette called "Blackout"

Other than the obvious reason of a guy having a sweet "stash" on the cover I got it because of a song called "No One Like You" that was quite popular in the early 80's. I don't think there were any other songs of note on the album. I probably paid $3 for it. It was a long time ago so I don't really remember.

Yeah dude I know that song. That sucks though when you buy a tape and there's only one good song! I must say the 80s (at least in my opinion) were way better for the most part in that aspect. I remember a lot of musicians put a lot of thought in how each song would roll into the next one. I remember a lot of performers talking about the art of it. I kind of feel like Appetite for Destruction was kind of like that. I can't remember any song that I didn't like.

Appetite for Destruction was an amazing album for so many reasons. I remember when a buddy of mine had the cassette and was showcasing it at school. At that point in time all music in that genre was basically glam-rock so GnR was just so fantastic and different.

My buddy was being hesitant to break out the cassette because some of the artwork had boobies in it!

Haha, I remember that. I remember it had a passed out woman with her panties down after being sexually assaulted by a robot. Can you imagine that coming out now?

I wore that tape out though.. I had it in my walkman constantly.

It was really something else. I would imagine it is deservedly on many lists of greatest albums of all time.

GnR would be cancelled for daring to release an image of that sort now. Good thing they basically cancelled themselves before the internet was really even a thing.
