Being in the open or noticed by people is the opposite of my nature as a former introvert I'm more of an ambivert now but no matter how hard I try to build my walls up, stay in my shell, I'll always end up being noticed, especially in school, no thanks to my grade always maintaining top position all through from my junior class all through to the senior class, but the event that stood out was when my school decided to select prefects based on their intellects, to participate in the exam, the requirement was for us to be in the senior class, I was in SS1 in our third term then, and SS1 is the youngest of the senior class.

Our class teachers made the selection in each senior class, and expectantly I got selected too, we were all given a form each to fill out, which mostly contained our details and the perfect position we would like to fit in. I choose to be a health prefect and wrote it in the space provided. Then, I had always aspired to be a medical doctor, and being a health prefect felt like the right position for me. We wrote the exams, did an oral interview too, and faced a panel of judges, where we were asked a random question not even about the position we had chosen, I remembered being asked "if you were to be the senior prefect (head girl) of this prestigious college, how would you perform your duty effectively? I can't remember my exact reply, but I knew I just blabbered some sentences with words intelligently stringed together, of course, I couldn't be the head girl, I was a junior-senior haha, after my answer, I was permitted to take my leave.

The announcement/inauguration day came, and it was done in front of the whole school, at the assembly hall with a few guests/sponsors of the school. The other prefects were called first, the assembly, library, sport, health, etc prefects, were all called upon and I felt bad that I wasn't qualified and was beginning to feel down, there was a very pretty girl in SS3 class and a smart boy too in same class we all thought they would both be chosen as the head perfect, as expected, the boy got chosen and given his tag, with other formalities done, then we started hailing the pretty girl, only for "Glory Ossom" to be called and the funny part was I heard my name but didn't feel like I was the one being called 😂😂, I stood at my spot without moving, then all eyes directed at me, only for my classmate closest to me at the assembly ground to nudge me forwarded then the round of applaud followed.

I walked shyly to the front surprise written all over my face, the power of a head girl, the senior prefect was bestowed on me, I was the youngest serving prefect by age but the superior, stern warning was given to everyone to always follow my instructions and anyone found disobeying me would be punished greatly. From then henceforth I became very popular, and made more friends and enemies as well, the jealous seniors, but they had no other option than to obey me. I had the longest serving term as senior prefect, I used my term well and didn't let power get into my head, and also became more serious in my studies to maintain my position.
