Hi fellow hivers and foodies. How are you? In this post, I’m doing a snack or dessert review. Some weeks ago, I saw a new special at McDonald's. I was with a friend and we stopped by to have a treat. For some reason, I decided to take some shots of their delivery vehicles. I think they’re kind of cool and certainly work well though many of the restaurants are accessible and conveniently located.

Sakura Mochi Pie

I’d sometimes have the regular hot apple pie at McDonald’s. I find it to be quite delicious. This particular time however, I certainly opted to try the new special, sakura mochi pie.
My friend decided to have apple pie and asked me to just tell her about the special. Lol.

Sakura Mochi Pie Review

The crust of the pie had a pinkish color. It was quite flakey. Mochi (rice cake) and anko (red bean paste) were beneath the crust.

Yes, I loved the concept of the pie.
Yes, I was excited to open the packet.
Yes, I love the flavor of sakura.
Yes, I love mochi.
Yes, I love anko (bean paste).
Yes, I love hot pies.

I however expected a bit more of the pie. I’m not sure if I took too long to start eating it but it wasn’t as warm as I thought it would have been. Maybe I was just accustomed to eating a hot apple pie and was making a sub-conscious comparison. I wanted to see the mochi stretch while being eaten. It didn’t really stretch. I had expected more of a sweet-salty taste. It was more sweet. There was probably a small hint of sakura flavor. It was however more evident in the color. So, it didn’t exactly meet my expectation but it was quite fitting for the season and yes, I had it all.
