My Introduction Post on Hive [ENG/ESP]
Have you ever thought about the commonalities between music and photography? In one we can tell stories through sounds and silences and in the other through lights and shadows.
My name is Francisco Terán, or simply Fran, as many of my friends call me, I'm from Venezuela and I play classical guitar, but I'm passionate about the arts and one thing has led me to the other, so I've been dabbling in music production, film and photography.
¿Alguna vez has pensado en los puntos en común que puede tener la música y la fotografía? En una podemos contar historias por medio de sonidos y silencios y en otra a través de luces y sombras.
Mi nombre es Francisco Terán, o simplemente Fran, pues así me llaman muchos de mis amigos, soy de Venezuela e interpreto la guitarra clásica, pero soy un apasionado por las artes y una cosa me ha llevado a la otra, de ese modo he ido incursionando en la producción musical, cine y fotografía.
As I have been advancing in my projects I have been able to realize that all the things that I am passionate about have common points, sometimes from the technical and sometimes from the philosophical, because art in the end is only one, but then it branches out into different disciplines.
I've been playing guitar for 14 years, at first I played rock and metal songs, then I started studying at the conservatory and I met other types of music that caught me, such as medieval, renaissance and baroque music, as well as the classical guitar repertoire and the way in which you can make melodies, basses and harmonies in a single instrument.
A medida que ido avanzando en mis proyectos me he podido dar cuenta de que todas las cosas que me apasionan tienen puntos en común, a veces desde lo técnico y otras desde lo filosófico pues el arte al final es uno solo, simplemente que luego se ramifica en diversas disciplinas.
Llevo 14 años tocando la guitarra, al principio tocaba canciones de rock y metal, luego entré a estudiar al conservatorio y conocí otros tipos de música que me atraparon, como por ejemplo la música medieval, la del renacimiento y del barroco, así como el repertorio de guitarra clásica y la manera en que en un solo instrumento puedes hacer melodías, bajos y armonías.
At the same time I practiced photography as a simple hobby, until I started to take it seriously about 3 years ago.
But also being a musician inevitably led me to the need to record my work, both for personal projects and for my clients, so little by little I learned more and more about the music production process.
Al mismo tiempo practicaba fotografía como un simple hobby, hasta que comencé a tomarlo en serio desde hace unos 3 años.
Pero además el hecho de ser músico me llevó inevitablemente a la necesidad de grabar mi trabajo, tanto para proyectos personales como para mis clientes, por lo que poco a poco fui aprendiendo cada vez más sobre el proceso de producción musical.
This is how my passion for music, photography and my knowledge of music production led me to filmmaking, where I have already participated in several short films working as a cameraman, photographer of making of and also as a composer of music for short films and sound designer, the latter being the one I usually practice.
Es así como mi pasión por la música, la fotografía y mis conocimientos sobre producción musical me fueron llevando hacia el cine, en donde ya he participado en varios cortometrajes trabajando como camarógrafo, fotógrafo de making of y también como compositor de música para cortometrajes y sonidista, este último siendo el que habitualmente ejerzo.
I've already told you a little about myself, so if you've never thought about the common elements that can be found between music and photography, let me tell you that there are many, and that on more than one occasion the bridge that unites one branch of art with the other, although it may be small, is quite solid.
So if you like to learn about these subjects, rest assured that in this space I will be sharing a little of what I have humbly learned on my way, with you and with anyone who reads me.

Ya te he contado un poco sobre mí, así que si nunca habías pensado en los elementos en común que pueden encontrarse entre la música y la fotografía, déjame decirte que son muchos, y que en más de una ocasión el puente que une una rama del arte con otra, aunque pueda ser pequeño, es bastante sólido.
Así que sí te gusta aprender sobre estos temas, ten por seguro que en este espacio estaré compartiendo un poco de lo que humildemente he aprendido en mi camino, contigo y con cualquiera que me lea.
