Saludos amantes de las mascotas, hoy quiero hacer un poco de catarsis y contarles que mis últimas 24 horas no han sido nada fáciles, así que déjenme ponerles en contexto. Ayer por la tarde comenzamos a notar que nuestra perrita llamada “Picu” andaba un poco triste. Realmente eso es muy raro, ella es una perrita muy juguetona, alegre y siempre con una energía que desborda. Además quiere que siempre este alguien acariciando, en realidad es demasiado tierna y muy dulce.

Nos pareció un poco raro, pero, fue un día acalorado y pensé que quizá solo quería estar acostada, al rato cuando le le serví su comida me dí cuenta que no quería comer ni siquiera se acercó a su plato y ella siempre se come todo, de hecho, a veces come demasiado rápido.

En ese momento me acerqué a ella y toqué su naríz, estaba caliente y reseca. Eso inmediatamente me confirmó que tenía fiebre y decidimos colocarle compresas frías y mantenerla en observación, era un poco tarde y la clínica veterinaria más cercana estaba cerrada.

Le bajó un poco la fiebre y bebió un poco de agua, aunque recobró un poco de buen ánimo, no demasiado, era muy notorio que se sentía mal. Así que decidimos estar atentos. Fue una noche muy larga, mi esposa y yo no dormimos casi nada, estábamos muy atentos a cómo iban a evolucionar los síntomas. Por otro lado, Picu si durmió un poco.

En la mañana, aunque tenía un poco más de ánimo, aún se sentía débil y no quería comer nada, y en ese momento decidimos llevarla al médico. Así que dispusimos de hacer los cambios necesarios para tener el dinero fiat necesario para pagar la consulta y la llevamos a la clínica más cercana a casa, además, el veterinario de allí ya lo conocemos porque fue quien esterilizó a nuestra gatita y fue quien le atendió una vez que tuvo un accidente y se clavó algo puntiagudo en la pata.

Tuve que llevar a Picu cargada a la clínica, no se sentía nada bien, llegamos y esperamos unos 5 minutos para ser atendidos, el doctor Anthony nos llamó y enseguida nos preguntó cuáles eran sus síntomas. Le contamos lo que ya mencione, tenía muy poca disposición de ánimo, nada de apetito y fiebre. Le midió la temperatura y efectivamente tenía fiebre. La revisó minuciosamente y se dió cuenta que tenía sus ganglios inflamados, de modo que es muy probable que esté atravesando un cuadro infeccioso.

Le tomó una muestra de sangre que horas después tuve que llevar al laboratorio y le inyectó un medicamento para la fiebre, si no mal recuerdo le colocó vía intramuscular un antipirético.

Al poco rato, de haber vuelto de la clínica, notamos que recobró un poco de apetito, eso nos alegró porque era signo de que se estaba sintiendo mejor. Luego, poco tiempo después salí al laboratorio para llevar la muestra de sangre para realizarle los estudios pertinentes y poder dar un diagnostico mas acertado. Horas más tarde, notamos que se sentía mucho mejor y que había recobrado el apetito y comenzó a tomar mucha más agua. Eso nos ha tranquilizado. En este momento tiene mejor ánimo, y nosotros estamos esperando los resultados. Me los enviarán al Email mañana en la mañana, en lo que ya los tenga iré de inmediato a llevarlos al doctor. y que nos dé su diagnóstico.

Espero que sea un simple cuadro viral, que no sea infección o algo peor, esa perrita es todo un amor y nos afecta muchísimo verla sentirse mal o que le pasé algo. De esté modo ha transcurrido mi día, y decidí contarles esto en forma de catarsis porque no ha sido un día emocionalmente equilibrado, y ha sido agotador, tanto física como mentalmente.

Debo decir que Picu ha sido una excelente paciente, se portó muy bien y ni siquiera refunfuñó cuando le sacaron la muestra de sangre o le inyectaron el medicamento. Estoy muy orgulloso de ella.

PD: Justo cuando ya había escrito todo lo anterior, llegó a mi correo los resultados, se los dejaré a continuación. No soy un experto en esto, pero creo que tiene las plaquetas un poco bajas, y creo que puede significar que hay presencia de un cuadro infeccioso.

Ya el medico me ha dado las indicaciones, tiene una infección que debe ser tratada... acá les dejo lo que le han mandado, un tratamiento por 21 días.

At that moment I approached her and touched her nose, it was hot and dry. That immediately confirmed that she had a fever and we decided to put cold compresses on her and keep her under observation, it was a little late and the nearest veterinary clinic was closed.

Her fever went down a little and she drank some water, although she regained some good spirits, not too much, it was very noticeable that she was feeling bad. So we decided to keep an eye on him. It was a very long night, my wife and I slept almost nothing, we were very attentive to how the symptoms were going to evolve. On the other hand, Picu did sleep a little.

In the morning, although she had a little more pep in her step, she still felt weak and didn't want to eat anything, and at that moment we decided to take her to the doctor. So we arranged to make the necessary changes to have the fiat money needed to pay for the consultation and we took her to the clinic closest to home, besides, the vet there we already know because he was the one who sterilized our kitten and was the one who treated her once she had an accident and stuck something sharp in her paw.

I had to take Picu loaded to the clinic, she was not feeling well at all, we arrived and waited about 5 minutes to be attended, Dr. Anthony called us and immediately asked us what her symptoms were. We told him what I already mentioned, she had very low mood, no appetite and fever. He measured her temperature and she did indeed have a fever. He checked her thoroughly and realized that she had swollen glands, so it is very likely that she is going through an infectious condition.

He took a blood sample that hours later I had to take to the lab and injected her with a medicine for the fever, if I remember correctly he gave her an antipyretic intramuscularly.

Shortly after returning from the clinic, we noticed that he had regained a little appetite, which made us happy because it was a sign that he was feeling better. Then, a short time later, I went to the lab to take the blood sample to perform the pertinent studies and to be able to give a more accurate diagnosis. Hours later, we noticed that she was feeling much better and had regained her appetite and started drinking a lot more water. This has reassured us. He is in better spirits at the moment, and we are waiting for the results. They will be sent to Email tomorrow morning, and as soon as I have them I will immediately take them to the doctor and he will give us his diagnosis.

I hope it is just a simple viral infection or something worse, that dog is a sweetheart and it affects us very much to see her feeling bad or that something happened to her. This is how my day has gone, and I decided to tell you this as a catharsis because it has not been an emotionally balanced day, and it has been exhausting, both physically and mentally.

I must say that Picu has been an excellent patient, she behaved very well and didn't even grumble when they took her blood sample or injected her medication. I am very proud of her.

PS: Just when I had written all the above, the results arrived in my mail, I will leave them below. I am not an expert on this, but I think you have a little low platelets, and I think it may mean that an infectious condition is present.

The doctor has already given me the indications, he has an infection that must be treated... here is what he has been prescribed, a treatment for 21 days.
