It was very devastating yesterday (Oct. 24) at the St. Louis high school when a gunman about 20 years old entered the school and shot 2 students and wounded six others.

When police arrived at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School at 9:10 a.m. local time (1410 GMT) in response to an active shooter call, students were running out, telling officers that a shooter was inside with a "long gun," Commissioner Mike Sack said during a news conference. Police entered the building and soon exchanged gunfire with the suspect, who appeared to be about 20 years old, fatally wounding him, Sack said.Source

With efforts from officers, the suspect was shot, although during the process a teacher and a teen was killed before killing the suspect. The quick response of the police in taking action in the school could be traced in people blaming officers for their delay in the previous shooting that occurred in May where 19 people were killed.

Eight people were transported to the hospital, while one died at the scene. No officers were injured, he said.
"While on paper we might have nine victims ... we have hundreds of others," he said. "Everyone who survived this is going to take home trauma."Source

It's the pure truth that people that survived the shooting will suffer traumatic experience and it'll take a long while for them to recover. Most of the victims of the shootouts are friends and colleagues of those that survived, so it'll be pretty traumatic for them.

A math teacher, David Williams, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the school principal alerted staff and students over the audio system with the code phrase for a school shooter. He described hearing multiple shots outside his classroom, adding that a window in the classroom door was shot out.Source

This is just a clear indication that schools in the US aren't safe, which means the government should braze up security to avoid ugly incidents like this from happening. The school has seven security officers on site and metal detectors. What wasn't disclosed is how the suspect entered the school building, although investigation is ongoing.

Thanks!
