ANOTHER CRAZY DINING EXPERIENCE AT CAFE LUCIA

Mariel invited me to lunch before I left Cebu. I can't abandon her since I miss her and she has been quite sad and going through something for the past three days. My flight is still scheduled at 4:00 p.m. and we agreed to meet at 12 p.m. She decided to look for a restaurant that was close to the airport. She chooses Café Lucia. This location is close to the Tacloban Astrodome and the ocean. I arrive first and select a table with an ocean view. I can see why Mariel chose this location. The view is breathtaking, and the air is refreshing.

The first thing I noticed was that when I arrived at any restaurant, they normally greet me with pleasant greetings, which I did not experience in this location. Second, they should help you choose a table and inquire whether it's a table for two, but I didn't get that either. Third, they generally provide you with the menu, but they didn't bring me one until I asked. I let it go, figuring that the food would make up for it. We went to the counter to order our food rather than having someone take our order to our table. I let that go for some reason, perhaps because this is how they do things in this establishment.

Our food takes roughly 15-25 minutes to arrive. We spent the rest of the minutes talking about work, family, and random topics. As I stated to Mariel, I like the view and thank her for meeting me. She also gave me the protein powder she promised to give me because she was unable to consume all of the freebies sent to her by her company. We were ecstatic when our lunch arrived because the portion is large and ideal for sharing. I can't wait to taste it because it smells so good. Mariel ordered Asian Marinated Bangus while I ordered Beef Tapa. I'm delighted the food tastes so excellent and that we were able to share it. We also enjoy the view and stayed until 2:30 p.m. Just taking in the scenery and chatting about everything. I noticed a few diners enjoying the sea breeze and their lunch as well.

When we eventually made the decision to pay, I snapped a picture of the inside. The fact that several of the tables and chairs are not painted made me realize how badly this place needs renovations. Mariel claimed that although the location looks gorgeous before she agreed that it needs renovation, it had changed with time.

I'm hoping that the next time I visit, the service will absolutely improve, since if it's just the food, they already have excellent food that I can say is worth it.
