How to make Frozen Herb and Vegetable Cubes

I like to include many herbs and vegetables in my meals, they are a source of minerals and vitamins which help us strengthen our immune system. However, herbs and some vegetables tend to get damaged faster than others, so I don't lose any of my groceries and I don't like to waste food.

I don't have problems with eating food from the day before, I think the idea is not to lose any of the food that we can have access to because there are many people in the world that sometimes don't get anything to eat. We should be thankful for our food and do everything we can to prevent it from being damaged.

So to avoid, at all costs, that my herbs are damaged I prefer to make some frozen cubes, so that I can mix herbs and vegetables, either with broth or drinking water and get some frozen cubes that will add a lot of flavor to my food. After they are frozen, I take them apart and put them in a covered container in the refrigerator. I can also leave them in the ice cube tray if I wish.

To make these cubes I take herbs and vegetables, in this case I used: onion, pepper, green onions, cilantro and parsley, I love to see the colorfulness of these herbs and vegetables.

The preparation is extremely easy since it is enough to blend the herbs and vegetables with water or broth of your preference, the consistency of the blend will depend on your taste.

You will have your green juice with a delicious aroma, I love to do this type of preparation because then I can use these cubes to cook either a protein such as chicken, meat, pork, among others or also to add to rice or a stew with potatoes. The possibilities of use in the kitchen are very wide.

After you have liquefied the vegetables and herbs, all that remains is to pour the liquid into an ice bucket. This way you will have all that delicious condensed and preserved flavor.

The idea is to take advantage of all our foods and to be conscious in our consumption, to be grateful and to preserve our foods is the key. I hope you dare to make these cubes of frozen herbs and vegetables.

This is such a wonderful idea. Thank you for sharing it! I agree - wasting food is such a shame. And truly appreciating the food we have is so important. Also, fresh vegetables begin to lose their nutritional value as soon as they are picked, so the longer it takes to prepare them the more nutrition they lose. Freezing them is a good way to preserve the nutritional value!

That is a really fascinating idea. I completely agree that food should not be wasted; it's a really precious commodity. I'll admit, though, that I've never once thought about making frozen herb cubes before. I've considered dehydrating herbs for a similar reason, but I can see where having them frozen would have it's own benefits. Neat!

It has been very useful to me, especially to avoid damage to the herbs, so I take advantage of each one of them, of course the idea is to consume them fresh but since they are damaged so quickly I try to preserve them in some way and this is a good way to do it.

I used to have Popsicle sticks and make fresh fruit juice then freeze for children when young to get them to take their daily fruits 😄. Doing similar with abundant herbs is a great idea!

That´s so clever!! This works to make the food seasoning for some days without doing it every one of them.

Yes, exactly, they help me rest from having to peel and chop and my hands sometimes get irritated by this.

I am the only one eating avocado here I am gonna try to put that in the freezer because when I keep it in the fridge it turns brown and not very nice to look at when you eat it.

I used to do this kind of thing with lemon, lime and orange juice to add to drinks later. Never really gave it a thought to do such a thing as this. Brilliant 🤗.

It works very well and gives a lot of flavor to the food this way, once they are frozen I take them out of the ice cubes and place them in a large container to avoid the freezer smelling of onions, for example xD.

I figured that you had to do something like that. Thats what I used to do to ensure that my lemon cubes didn't taste like garlic or onion.. haha.

Have a good day :-)
