Out Of The Box

Today I'd like to show you some photos I took at an exhibition, that was out of the box thinking in any sense of the word.

The exhibition hall is in the basement of a new building. I wanted you to see everything as it is, so the ceiling is uncensored. It was a big surprise for me, but a very good one. The world or art is known to be irregular, strange, crazy, without similarities, out of the box, you name it. If you want to create something, make it outstanding, unique, even shocking as copying others has no sense. This basement is perfect in my eyes and it is set up to serve as a meeting space or conference room if you like. You can do interviews there as well, as you can see, there's a suitable setup on the photo above.

What can be more original than a space like this? I'm not going to lie, it's my favorite so far, for being huge in the first place and for offering plenty of room for artworks to display and visitors to roam around there.

At a better look, you can see that those pipes could have been hidden with a ceiling, but they didn't do that and it was the right choice in my opinion.

So back to the purpose of this post, which is art, not architecture and interior design.

The artist's name is Emőke László, architect by profession, who lives in Hungary. Just as the exhibition room, her art is very out of the box too and I love it.

My Grandfather

This was the first canvas on the wall and got my attention right away. Firstly, because I love red and this color was a pleasant one, secondly because at first glance I thought those white things are stars. Then on a closer look I saw it's a wonderful poem written in Hungarian and the highlighted letters read together mean the name of a village and the name of a person. It's the first time I saw such a painting but I hope it wasn't the last. Having a closer look at it, shows the uneven letter sizes, which makes it even more interesting. I'm not a huge fan of poems, but this is a lovely one by the way.

Dynamics

I bet from far this canvas looks like a mess but at a closer look you can see the meaning and it's very original in my opinion. I love the sequence of people.

Nyárádköszvényes

The first thing I noticed here was the nice colors, as I love the blue and green combination, if it's the right shade. Then the whole thing looked like a Google map from above. The title of the artworks were at the lower right corner beneath the canvas, so none of them was visible, unless you got closer and bent down to have a look. The title of this one was Nyárádköszvényes, which is the village mentioned on the first canvas. This was no coincidence, most likely the artist has a deep connection with this village.

Nimród 1

This canvas reminded me of a textile and fiber art exhibition, where there was a similar one, made of textile pieces, featuring several buildings.

The artist has managed to make me smile with this canvas. Kind of saw myself and my brother, when we were at that age, thinking about and discussing teenage problems 😂. The big things of life, high school problems and all that. I could write a novel about those times and you'd be under the table laughing all day 😆. Those were the good times and therefore this would have a place on my wall for sure. I could look at it all day.

Tagging @mipiano here 😂, she's the only one who can understand the writing on the canvas. At this point I don't know what it says, but as soon as I publish my post, I can get to solve the mystery 😆. Don't try to guess as this is more complicated than you think, but it's a fun game for us. It's funny that I bump into this type or writing all the time.

This one can easily mean twins of the same gender, which is not rare. This is a series of 4 paintings, featuring siblings in a different way. It's a very good topic and I could write a novel about it, but better let you tell me how you see it. If I were to choose, I'd go home with No. 4 and No. 3, although No. 4 is what I can relate to.

Saturday Night Fever

This could refer to the famous movie from 1977, with John Travolta and Karen Gorney, or the show that most likely was franchised in every country. The difference I see here there are 2 men dancing, or maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, it's a nice one. The passion of the two dancers is there, on the canvas.

Yin And Yang

I've seen countless interpretation of the concept on canvas, paper, fabric, you name it, but this is the best by far. The position of the bodies, the green and yellow color the artist chose, the dark background, how the light reflects on the bodies, somehow everything is just as it should be. Look at the brush strokes, look at the direction of them.

Saint Joseph

We have users from all over the world on Hive, from every religion. Therefore I think I need to explain who Saint Josef is and why he is an important figure for many as what's obvious for a good part, can be a mystery for other religions.

Joseph was a 1st-century Jewish man of Nazareth who, according to the canonical Gospels, was married to Mary, the mother of Jesus, and was the legal father of Jesus.

Joseph is venerated as Saint Joseph in the Catholic Church, Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodox Church and Anglicanism. His feast day is observed by some Lutherans. In Catholic traditions, Joseph is regarded as the patron saint of workers and is associated with various feast days. The month of March is dedicated to Saint Joseph. source

In this painting Saint Josef appears as protector of Mary and Jesus but of workers too.

The artist was new to me, I've never heard of her, let alone see her artworks before visiting the exhibition. After I finished watching the artworks and was on my way out, was asked by the kind man who showed me the way to the exhibition room, if I liked it. Liked it? Loved it! As I mentioned at the beginning of my post, this is really out of the box thinking and unique interpretation of things.

Looking back, I can see the dominant colors are blue and green together, which for me is a huge yes anyway. Another thing that can be noticed is people. The majority of the paintings are featuring people and feelings through them.

Oh, I almost forgot, these exhibitions are free, no entrance fee is required. What could be better? I truly hope there will be other art exhibition at this location as I love it. Each exhibition room has it's own charm (and curse as well) but this one is my favorite by far.
